Cancer Treatment Centers of America Paves Way for New Hospital in Georgia For years, cancer patients from all over the southeastern United States have been traveling hundreds of miles for the unique care found at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). Responding to patients’ needs in Georgia and throughout the Southeast, CTCA has announced its intention to file a certificate of need (CON) application with the Georgia Department of Public Health that would pave the way for the construction of a fifth CTCA hospital, joining cancer centers in suburban Chicago, Philadelphia, Tulsa and suburban Phoenix. “I’m excited that CTCA will now be closer to home,” said Valerie Yurchuk, a patient who traveled from her home in Florida to CTCA in Philadelphia for treatment. “I could have gone to any cancer treatment program in the nation, but I came here because of the patient-centered approach of CTCA.” “CTCA didn’t look at treating just my cancer, but looked at me as a whole person. My treatment plan was based on my individual needs. Everything was explained to me and I was the one making the decisions. That’s the difference at CTCA – I was at the center of my care, from the very beginning.” – Valerie Yurchuk Breast Cancer Survivor About Us Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) is a national network of hospitals providing cancer patients a fully integrated care model. suburban Chicago, Philadelphia, suburban Phoenix, Tulsa and a community oncology program in Seattle.

• CTCA provides a comprehensive, patient-centered treatment model that fully integrates state-of-the-art medical treatments with scientifically supported complementary therapies to meet the special, whole-person needs of patients with advanced and complex cancer.

• The CTCA growth initiative will place hospitals within 300 miles of approximately 80 percent of the U.S. population.

CTCA of the Southeast (proposed Georgia hospital)• 212,000-square-foot fully paperless hospital focused exclusively on

treating cancer.

• Located at Newnan Crossing Bypass, off of I-85. • Upon approval of certificate of need, the new cancer hospital will include:

50 beds; ICU rooms; surgical suites; state-of-the-art radiation and infusion therapy departments; an on-site outpatient clinic; rehabilitation and physical therapy; and on-site residential accommodations for outpatients and their families.

• The hospital is expected to generate $500 million in economic activity over the first five years, and create approximately 500 new jobs after the fifth year of operation.

• With more than two-thirds of its patients expected to come from outside the state of Georgia, patients and their families will also contribute to the growth and vitality of the local economy.

History• Cancer Treatment Centers of America was founded in 1988 by Richard J

Stephenson. Stephenson was disappointed with the impersonal and insensitive cancer care his mother, Mary Brown Stephenson, received. When she lost her battle with cancer in 1982, Stephenson set out to change the face of cancer care. His commitment to creating a truly patient-centered cancer treatment experience has been the organization’s guiding principle ever since.
