joanont on the above motiona Those motions are intended to ve club members an opportunity to put the Consonttion Officer on the committee. The general fooling at the September iaoeting was that this shoula be demo, although not at the expense of the minutes secretory. The combincd effect of the above motions is to aulo memboro to choose botwoon what appear to be the only feasible alternatives to add the position to the committee, or to roplaco the member. The socond uoticn would lapse if the first one is not passed.

Under section 5.4 of the Constitution, any position created by these notionc oould be filled by the committee. flowovor, in the cire'nstances, if a position is created I would then call for nominations for the position, hold an election among :±ombors Present at the ucotlug, wad regard the result as finding on the coanittoc.

NOTI2 OF MOTION

That this club donate $50 from the Conservation fond to the Macdennell Ranges Committee.

Lloved: T. Jordan Seconded: W. Davidson

The Maedonnoll Ranges Committee was formed on the 24th September 1975. It contains a high proportion of CBC members (its President is Prank Rigby, Secretary, Mark Cox and Treasurer, Bob Harrison). It has not however beyond that any connection with this elub but exists solely to encourage the dedication of a major Central Australian national park. The Macdonnells have provea a popular stamping ground for C3C walkers over the last few years and will continue to do so A national park is badly needed there - the existing mystom of reserves is quite inadequate in the face of the throats that do exist. The MRC's bank account stands at $60 already and is planning a caupaign of publicity. I think we can spare $50.

P. Jordan.

WALKS IthIPQRTS

HONEYSUQ1E CREEK iflEj - 21st Septembp.

Lonty—five people tunaed up evelatually after the usual last minute add tions and -1ñthdrawalu inevitable in such a large group, We headed southish from the tracking station, climbing to a low saddle then veering south—west. Well, nest of us did, but a certain boarded ox—walks secretary decided it looked better to the scnzth—east and was never soon again. We then headed west to the range overlooking Orroral and thence along it via an interasting rock fonation, climbed by some of the more energetic to the "collimation tower", A stroll don the access road got us to a creek for a leisurely lunch. As the weather was spotty we headed back to the cars to give people the choice of finishing or heading off up a nearby hill. The lure of the cars was too much and only four people (it just had to include 2 drivers) subsequently continued the walk. I hear they enjoyed it, and Terry did turn up before they left.

TINDEad1Y CIIAND T&LVEHSE: 11-12th October

Several possibilities (it's a democratic trip). Most likely route - Tee Tree Creek Homestead - North Tinderry - Tinderry proper (camp here or near the Onion) - Onion - South Tinderry (Peaks south?) - Tea Tree Creek Homestead. Colas along and have your say about whsro it goes and at what pace.

OCT0BR 1975

KEaN YUNIS - DEtJA: 25-26th October

From Than Yunis, we will proceed east across the Sboalhaven River and down a suitable looking ridge to the Deua River. This is a considerable descent (approximately 3,000 ft). Caap'.ñll be made near Canoolie. Sunday will be spent. going downstream along the river flats to Alpine and up the ridge Opposite. This is a long and steady climb but not rough going. Once we reach the top it's back to the Shoalhaven and the cars.

GINGERA: 19th October

Gingera is the flat topped peak to the left of Tidbinbilla that can be soon from north Canberra. The road along the range passes about 500 ft below-the peak. Many optional return trips can be made. The walking is all on snow grass through snow gun forest with granite outcrops on top.

BOOROOMBL ROCKS - 26th October

This is a pleasant walk, covering only about 10 Ira and involving a 350 metre climb, although the distance covered can be lengthened if desired. There will be a little bit of scrub—bashing, but most of the way we will be follow-ing a track. From the top of Booroomba Rocks there are extensiYe views in all directions, and with a bit of luck we will be able to watch some rock climbers in action as this is one of thei favourite spo*s. We start out from Honeysuckle Creek tracking station, about 50 len from Canberra.

WIDDI*I VALLISY (Flextime walk'): (23')24-25-26 Ootober*

Viidden Valley is a JILZ way away. Consequently, it requires a 3—day weekend with Thursday night sthrt to mako it worthwhile. With many people on flex-time this becomes feasible. The distance is a dindvantage but the area is of interest - dissected sandstone, with many plugs of volcanic rock (which paradoxically form depressions rather than Warrunbungloid peaks). The area is not often visited and excellent maps have àust been published. I walked there long ago and an quite keen to got back. T. Jordan. *Sheet will be picked up on Wednesday night.

MYSTEitYWàW 25-26th October

Vthy do most walkers only go on icaiks to their favourite areas and with their favourite leaders? It seems that they are missing out on much of the varied interest that the bushwalking experience has to give. This trip will be into unconventional countrj within 100 miles of Canberra. It will not be more than mediun/rough and is intendod to be enjoyable. How many of you are prepared to rise above your prejudices and preconceptions about bushwalking?

anomalous.

SRNTIN1L HILL: 1-2 November

From the northern end of the Budawangs to Tarn then down over Sentinel iulI into Holland Canyon. Up Angel Pails to the cars. A bit of scrub, river walk-ing and tracks. Longish but not too hard.

TINDEURY wucui - 2nd Novembe

The distance covered will be only 11 len with a climb of 300 metres so our pace can be slow to mazimise our enjocaent of this beautiful area. To avoid the agony of a tough climb we will drive up the range and walk to a peak north of the road along an exposed ridge from which there are good views to the west and south. There are some short areas of scrub, and we will need to clamber up some rocks, but it is quite safe and They are not difficult. After lunch at the top we mill return to the cars via a ridge on the eastern side, the fire trail and the road.

BUDAVANGS BICYCLE: 8-9 November

The Sassafras-Newhaven Gap road is not a good car road. It is a much better bicycle road, particularly as it is often impassable to cars at its beginning. In fact, it continues to the south and does a loop around Quilty's Mountain. As fax as I remember there is little on this road that would stop a bike - no gravel, some sand, quite a bit of rock (sandstone domes) but this should prove no problem. Camp should be near Styles Crock and hopefully we will have time to climb either Hoddie or Sturgiss (not on heels). P. Jordan.

1GLLY iLiORJnL; 15 November

Commencing from Orroral Valley (early) walking to Cotter Gap - 1aris Ridge - Creamy Flats - Mt Myrtle - Mt Kelly. ietuat via laddie, Rendezvous and Nursery Creeks to Orroral Valley. approx±mately 25 miles including about 5,000 ft of climbing. About 10 hours "sustained" walking (including "scrog stops") and an hour for lunch.

ORRORAL CIRCUMNAVIGATION: 16 November

From Orroral Valley (3,200 It) walk about 5 miles along firo trail and marked track to Cotter Gap (4,400 ft). Then descond Rendezvous Creek to several flats. Return via saddle to Nursery Creek and track to Orroral Valleys Approximately 12 miles. I II

Friday night will be on top of the Castle. Saturda3j will be spent going via Shrouded Gods, Darri Pass and Dunmel Creek to the top of Tilaterang. From there wo will doscend to Piecon House Gorge and thence via Pigeon House Mountain and/or Byangee Walls back to the cars. If yen haven't been around long enough to imow what this description implies you probably aren't experienced enough to put your name dovrn. In any case names on the list will be treated as applications not enrolmeats. I may yet reject myself 1 The trip will be drastically altered if the eather is unsuitable. A. Vidler
