What is a work permit?
The work permit is an authorization paper issued to a person who doesn’t belongs to Canada
but wants to work in the country. It is issued on the basis of the LMIA (Labour Market Impact
Assessment), Canada.
Who requires a work permit? A person, who is neither a citizen on Canada nor a permanent resident, needs Canadian work
permit to work in the country. As per the nature of the activity, the work permit may not be
required, for example, for refugees as per the Refugee Protection Act and Regulations. But in
most cases, he or she will need to obtain a work permit from Citizenship and Immigration

What requirements must I meet to obtain a work permit? In order to be able to apply and get the Canadian Work permit, you will have to fulfill certain
requirements. The requirements are:
Give assurance to the visa office that you will be staying in the country till you are
working with an employer.
Show that you are earning enough that you can easily fulfill your and your family’s
requirement while you are working in the country.
You are earning enough that you can anytime return to the country.
You do not have any criminal activity record and has a valid police clearance certificate
Do not pose any threat to the government of the country.
Medically fit and have been through a medical examination
You will not be working for an ineligible employer in the country.
You do not intend to take part in any of the employers the conducts striptease, erotic
dance or any other erotic activities.
Have not previously worked in the country for more than 4 years after 1 April 2011.
