The Canadian

Currency

There are many differences between

the old and new currency in Canada.

Dollar coins are called loonies and

two dollar coins are called toonies.

There is now new technology to

protect the currency which changes

daily in the exchange rate market.

daily.

The Old Currency in Canada

British army bills were first issued in

Canada between 1813 to 1815. Before

coins and bills were made, wampum and

fur were considered currency. In the 18th

century France and England changed

their currency from fur to coins. The

history of the coin goes from the British

and French cobniade period to the

present years of membership in the

common wealth of the nations.

Canada Changing to High Qualaty

Coin Security to Prevent Counterfeits

Canada is changing their bills from

cotton to polymer and the bills will last 2-

3 years longer. Australia was the first to

make plastic money. They’re changing

because 141,000 bills worth 3.3 million

dollars were counterfeited in 2007!! The

new currency is modern and harder for

people to counterfeit.

The Canadian Currency

The old currency wasn’t always coins and

bills. Banks are also trying to stay ahead

of the technology curve and introduce

better ways to stop counterfeits. The

Canadian currency is the seventh most

traded currency in the world. To present

day the Canadian dollar has greatly

apprieceated in value.

in both English and French has the most

registered players of any sports team. As

a country, Canada has enjoyed greater

success at the winter Olympics than the

summer Olympics.

What is governance in sports? Federal

governments are both active and valued

in sports! Each has areas of jurisdiction

which overlap sports to help athletes

excel. Provinces will often focus on

student athletes as it falls more cleanly in

an area of jurisdiction of education.
