Last time we learned your goal is to…
Change the way patients think about movement and exercise by:
1) Identifying the root of movement
dysfunction
2) Find compensation patterns that contribute to pain www.kineticseminars.com

Is this the goal of all rehabilitation and

Many rehabilitation professionals follow an impairment-based approach, while neglecting patterns of movement.
Because of this, many patients are discharged from PT pain-free with the proper range of motion and strength
BUT STILL EXHIBIT• asymmetries
• movement compensations• dysfunctional movement
patterns These are predictors of FUTURE INJURY

Fitness professionals or coaches may try to indirectly treat injuries and sometimes do not understand the implications of pain or injury on the body.
Often, they are not referred to the proper medical professional and can
cause further injury long-term.www.kineticseminars.com

In the best interest of the patient, we need to
have a global, comprehensive,
movement-based approach and truly
understand the performance demands of
life and sport for not only athletes, but all
individuals.www.kineticseminars.com

We are trying to reprogram the pattern from the motor control
center. When my patients ask me, “how many reps I should do”, my answer is always, “however many you can
do really well.” If a patient does three sets of 10 reps of an exercise incorrectly,
we just reinforced the movement dysfunction.
