Think of talent attraction as fishing Think of talent attraction as fishing

•In Australia, we have a population of 22 million, a small fishing pond, compared to the US who has a population of over 320 million.

•In the US, there are estimated 7000 recruitment companies (people fishing) and Australia has around 4000

•Therefore fishing for talent in the Australian market is over 9 TIMES more competitive than the US

•Couple that with the Australian unemployment rate of 5‘ish% verses the 8.5’ish% in the US means there are less fish (candidates) to be caught.

• In a recent study of over 10,000 people’s reasons for being online, they found that

‣ 72% were looking for a solution to a problem‣ 24% were comparing solutions‣ 4% were there to buy

• A new job/employer is a solution to a problem

• A web site is not enough. Most websites are a marketing platform and if there is a careers section, its an afterthought.
