Established on 17th September, 1994, theSwami Ramanand Teerth MarathwadaUniversity, Nanded, has emerged as apremier center of higher learning withoutstanding student output and facultieswho have to their credit notableaccomplishments and academic calibernourished through their association withprestigious institutes of national andinternational repute such as IUCAA, GSI,IICT, C-DAC, CICR (Nagpur), CEERI (Pillani)etc. Having taken a quantum leap forwardin the direction of building necessaryinfrastructure for operation of the coursesof Campus Schools in a span of nineteenyears, the University has created goldenopportunities for the students to study anumber of courses. It has procuredequipments and computational facilitiesworth more than five crores in aggregatefor the Schools. It offers the state-of-artfacilities for Post-Graduate and researchstudies in major disciplines in Sciences,Humanities, Social Sciences, Literature,Languages, Pharmacy, Fine and Perform-ing Arts, Media Studies and CareerOriented Courses, Commerce andManagement Studies.

S 2015 - 162.7) SCHOOL OF INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES

The newly established School of Interdisciplinary Studies will be introducing theM.Sc. (Medical Physics) course with effect from the academic year 2014-2015. MedicalPhysics is a two years degree course which basically deals with the applications ofPhysics, Electronics, and computing in medicine and human health. In fact, medicalphysics course has large number of branches such as (i) Radiotherapy (utilizing linearaccelerators for treatment of cancer tissues), (ii) Nuclear medicine (employs radioactivetracers for disease diagnosis, (iii) Magnetic Resonance Imaging and (iv) Medical Elec-tronics (Monitoring and processing instruments).

The course is designed to provide the knowledge of physics/electronics as ap-plied to health care clinical management. It will also provide technical expertise invarious imaging techniques as well as in monitoring sophisticated instruments. Uponcompletion of the course, students can be employed as a Medical physicist in hospitalsthroughout India. The students also become eligible to appear for RSO qualifying exam.conducted by AERB in collaboration with BARC, Mumbai, and thus they can haveadditional opportunity to become Radiation Safety Officers in General Hospitals in India.Additionally by studying this course, it will help further in making your career in healthdepartments, tertiary institutions, and medical instrumentation companies as well aspursue research career in India and abroad. The students can also seek admission forDiploma in Rediation Physics conducted by BARC Mumbai.

This degree course will be of four semesters duration having theory papes andpractical sessions split over three semesters, while the fourth semester would be exclu-sively for the Dissertation / project work. A science graduate student with combination ofsubjects such as Physics, Biophysics, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computers, Bio-technology, and B.E. student with Electronics and Tel., Electrical and Instrumentation, etcis eligible for seeking admission to this course. The course will be taught by theselected expertise available on the campus as well as off the campus. The facultymembers from Dr. S.C. Govt. Medical College, Nanded, S.G.G.S. College of Engineer-ing & Technology, Vishnupuri, Nanded, as well as experts form Armed Forces MedicalCollege (AFMC) Pune, Command Hospital New Delhi, will also contribute to conducttheory and practical sessions. The Students will also have opportunity to have field workin radiologycal centres/Hospital in Nanded city & other reputed laboratories in India.

The current trend in education has been leaning towards upgrading and updatingknowledge and ideas to enhance the creativity and to face the demands of jobrequirements. Technology enabled centres have helped in taking forward University leveleducation to more professional ends.

The concerns and involvement of SRTMUN and the state government in theexpansion of opportunities of Higher education sector at underprivileged areas haveresulted in establishing a Sub-Centre (Campus) at Latur. It has provided a comprehensiveplatform for learning specialized and professional courses at one campus. This welcomemove would help meet the higher education needs of the growing youth population of theregion and thereby increase the GER. Key industries and organizations are also queuingup to hire exceptional talents having competent and updated skills in management,computer, information technology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, economics and socialsciences fields. Sub-Centre, Latur (established in the year 2007) has accordingly beenprepared to impart education, training and employable skills through different coursesunder three Schools. All the schools and the administrative wings are equipped withinfrastructure, fixtures and other amenities independently. Computer laboratories andpersonal PCs with staffs are connected with broad-band internet facility. The successfulacademic process and drive for excellence are conditioned here by the elements likevisionary academic leadership, committed and talented faculty, transparency inadministration, merit driven functioning, liberal funding, autonomy in curriculum designingand implementation and finally the enthusiastic students. Thus the product of the Sub-Centre, Latur is a complete, potential, vibrant-youth ready to undertake challenges andwill not mind to manage the business of others. Apart from conducting specialized coursesof higher learning, the Sub-Centre, Latur has also become the nodal agency for theaffiliated Colleges/Institutions/Research centres of Latur district in the context ofUniversity’s administrative and examination related activities. Students from foreigncountries have started taking higher education in different courses here. The Sub-Centreis developed to a research centre and many Ph.D. students are pursuing their thesis workunder the guidance of the subject supervisors. The sub-centre is housed in a five storied(area = 8,882 sq m built-up), architecturally well designed, strong and eye-catchingbuilding with a peripheral campus of 53 acres lush green environment on Latur – Ausaroad (05 km from Latur city), near village Peth.

Other Facilities at the sub-centresThe Central Library – It has 497.37 sq m area to accommodate stack room, referenceblock, reading halls, counters, Asstt. Librarian’s cabin, e-Journal lab., office and WCs.It is managed by a qualified Asstt. Librarian and other supporting staff. There are 5935books of 2405 titles available to students and staff. As well as 02 International Journals,36 National Journals, 24 magazines and 04 News papers are regularly procured by thelibrary. There are separate units for Competitive Examinations, and for DistanceEducation. The regular activities of the library are computerized with SOUL software –2 version an OPAC operations.

The Computer Laboratories: There are 08 computer labs for the students with latestcomputer hardware and software installations. The computers are maintained by aqualified Computer staff and by hired experts.

Internet Facility: All computer Labs, PCs with the faculties, at Library and in officesare connected with broad-band non-stop Internet facility from BSNL and underNMEICT project of Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.

Students’ Recreation Halls : There are separate recreation halls for Boys and Girlsprovided with news papers, magazines and table games.

Placement Unit : There is a placement unit at the Sub-Centre to coordinate the projectwork and placement activities of all the students. It is assisted by senior faculties. Theplacement officer of the university provides inputs to this unit. Accordingly, Industrialhouses, Firms, Financial institutions, Banks, NGOs, Academic/Research institutionsand other private recognized organizations are invited to interact with the students forselection, training and recruitment. Each year, a good number of students from eachschool are finding suitable jobs by this unit.

Fees, Scholarships, Stipend and Earn and Learn schemes benefits: All admissionsare made as per merit and reservation rules and Fees of every course is collected as pernotification of the university with freeship, scholarship and stipend benefits to eligiblestudents as per provisions of Govt. of Maharashtra and Govt. of India. Other economicallypoor students are enrolled under Earn and Learn scheme to partially support theirfinancial requirements. Poor meritorious Girl students are also adopted by the universityin bearing their educational expenditure.

School of Management SciencesSchool of Management sciences started in the year 2007 for nurturing the talent

pool in Marathwada region, especially for rural youth. The programmes are designed toprepare candidates to take up managerial positions in technology oriented globalenterprises. 4.0 SOFT SKILL PROGRAMMEFor a long time the focus in industry and related fields was on ‘hard’ skills. These skills

were more job-specific and were actually related to production. However, in the field of employ-ment, the employers today are looking for the candidates who have mastered the soft skillsand have professional training in personality development. Today, achieving all-round develop-ment requires not only technical skills but also soft skills, which prepare the candidates forthe job market in the new global arena. Development of soft skills and personality is becomingincreasingly important as there is intense competition for the posts available.

It is now well-established that many students who otherwise perform well in the traditionalexamination are lacking in communication skills. The objective of this course is to train thestudents in soft skills and develop their personalities in order to empower them and raise theirawareness. This will also help them boost their confidence by developing competence bycommunicating in English. This course will also help the students increase their employabilitypotential and face the challenges of the present times. The students will develop diverse rangeof skills such as communication, strategic-planning, negotiation, self-awareness, analyticalthinking, leadership skills, team-building, etc.

Objectives of the course: Develop the personality of the students. Get better insight into one’s responsibility and personal style. Develop positive attitude towards soft skills. 5.0 COMPETITIVE EXAMINATIONS GUIDANCE CENTREThis centre taps the potential of the students and guides them towards gaining success in competitive

6.0 PROCEDURE OF ADMISSION(A) Admissions to the above courses will be given strictly on merit basis.(B) Candidate must have studied the subject at the qualifying examination as one of the optional subjects

In case of cancellation of admission 10% deduction will be made and the balance amount will berefunded upto spot admission. Under any circumstances refund of fees will not be made after spot admission.

14 FACILITIES14.1 Library and Laboratory

Facilities:The University Library has up-to-date collection of text books, reference books and national and interna-

tional research journals, hard copies as well as in electronic forms. The library offers computerised facilitiesalong with reprography and internet services. All the science laboratories are well equipped with sophisticatedinstruments. The university has a central UGC computer center for all as well as another additional computercenter for schools in faculty of science. UGC-ERNET facility is available.14.2 Sports, Gymnasium Facilities and HealthCentre:

The University gives due importance to the overall development of students and their recreationalneeds. For this purpose, volleyball, basket ball, kabaddi and kho-kho courts are at the University Campus.

Facility of well equiped ladies and gents gymnasium is available on campus. Health Centre with all primarymedical facilities is available for purpose of health care under supervision of competent staff.

14.3 Facility for Differently Abled Persons:The Differently abled students avail various softwares, computers and other equipments for effective

learnings. Ramps, railing, lift etc facilities are also provided on the campus to facilitate them smoothly. Variousacademic and recreational activities are organized for the students.14.4 Career Counselling and Placement Cell:

The University has established a Career Counselling and Placement Cell. Various Seminars, Workshopsand Campus Interviews are organized by the Cell. The Cell has established effective coordination amongstCampus Schools, Industries and other Organizations.14.5 Hostel Accommodation:

Separate hostel facilities for girls and boys are available on the university campus. The admission to thehostel is strictly given on the merit basis to P.G. students of all campus schools. The quota for each school shallbe decided on demand and supply basis. The hostel mess is run on co-operative basis and shall be compulsoryfor each student-hostelite. In case of cancellation of hostel admission, 10% deduction shall be made and thebalance amount will be refunded provided that the admission is cancelled before 31st August of the year. Intakecapacity of boys hostel is 420 and Intake capacity of girls hostel is 300.

15. General Rules and Special Instructionsa) All admissions will be given on merit basis.b) Students should read the prospectus carefully before filling the admission form.c) Students should note the procedure of admission and time-table.d) M.B.A., M.C.A., B.Pharm. and M.Pharm. courses are governed by AICTE rules and DTE admissions

procedure.e) All admissions given in the campus schools are as per the University rules and regulations. f) No correspondence will be made with regard to admission. The students should read the

merit list displayed in the school concerned on the date mentioned in the prospectus.g) Claims on refund will not be considered after the deadline.h) The candidate must remain present with all the documents in original. i) No student will be given admission after the deadline. j) Incomplete admission forms will not be considered.k) If the necessary documents are not attached with the application forms, the application forms

will not be accepted. No concession of time will be given to those who do not attach the necessarydocuments.

k) It is necessary to fulfill the required condition/qualification that the university has recommended for thepostgraduate course concerned.

S 2015 - 16 l) The sub-clause no. EAB 1 M. A. 13/1/13/2 of the clause no. 13 in the university circular

no. 2/Acad/Elig/Admn/Gen-Rules/2000-01/280- 429 has been cancelled.m) The students of arts, commerce and science faculties who have passed the compulsory or second

language will be eligible for admission to M. A. in the respective language.n) Required percentage as decided by the university is essential for admission to the courses related to

AICTE. The condition of percentage decided for the other professional courses and non-traditional andtraditional courses has been cancelled. According to this amendment, the candidate must be a graduate.

o) The students, who will be eligible for admission to the courses, will be subject to the eligibility conditions ofthe university.

p) The students who have completed first year from the other universities or affiliated colleges will not be eligiblefor admission to the second year of the postgraduate course.

16. ANTI-RAGGING REGILATION,Ragging is legally banned. It is a punishable offence. In view of the increasing number of events of

ragging, the University Grants Commission has passed the “UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace ofRagging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009.

Ragging is any conduct by “any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an actwhich has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or including inrowdy or indisciplined activities by any student which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship orpsychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student or asking anystudent to do any act which such student will not in any ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing orgenerating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche ofsuch fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing of power,authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.”

The Anti-Ragging Committee may, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by theAnti-Ragging Squad, award, to those found guilty, one or more of the following punishments namely;i) Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.ii) Withholding / withdrawing scholarship / fellowship and other benefits.iii) Debarring from appearing in any test / examination or other evaluation process.iv) Withholding results.v) Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth

festival, etc.vi) Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.vii) Cancellation of admissionviii) Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four semesters.ix) Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified

period.Provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution
