CAMPUS CARRY IS AN EXCELLENT BENEFIT FOR COLLEGE CAMPUSES IN TEXAS
WHAT IS CAMPUS CARRY?
Campus Carry is a new law that allows citizens with concealed carry permits to carry concealed handguns on college campuses, for self-defense.
CAMPUS CARRY IN TEXAS
Signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Legislature on June 13, 2015
Ultimately goes into effect on August 1, 2016
Follows same rules as regular conceal carry i.e. Can’t carry into major sporting events or events with alcohol
Ultimately up to the College to make final rules, while still adhering to law
CAMPUS CARRY: CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSE
Must be 21 or older Legally own a firearm Requires Concealed Handgun License
21 unless in military, 18 Written Test Target shooting Test FBI background and fingerprint check
CAMPUS CARRY: SELF DEFENSE
The greatest benefit of Campus Carry is the enhanced sense of self defense.
Brings a new meaning of safety to a college campuses
CAMPUS CARRY: MISCONCEPTIONIndividuals will be openly carrying weapons around campus.

CAMPUS CARRY A concealed handgun license holder commits a Class A
misdemeanor offense if the license holder carries a partially or wholly visible handgun, regardless of whether the handgun is holstered, on or about the actor's body and intentionally or knowingly displays the handgun in plain view of another person on the premises of or on certain streets, walkways, driveways, or parking areas of a public, private, or independent institution of higher education; carries a handgun on the campus of a private or independent institution of higher education that has banned the carrying of handguns, regardless of whether the handgun is concealed, provided effective notice is given; or intentionally carries a concealed handgun on a portion of the campus of a public institution of higher education that has adopted rules prohibiting such carrying, provided effective notice is given. – Senate Bill 11

According to the most recently published conviction rates report by Texas Department of Public Safety, CHL holders were responsible for less than 1% of crime convictions in Texas. – Texas DPS Report
Allowing the law abiding individuals of our society to continue to practice their rights.
With the amount it costs to purchase a firearm, as well as obtain a CHL, no one is going to throw that away.
