Campaign Newsletter, Volume 3 Campaign Pledges Reach $3.6 Million! The “Living Our Faith, Building Our Future” Capital Campaign continues to gain momentum! We wish thank to everyone that participated in the Procession of Gifts on November 14 & 15 as we collected over 200 envelopes amounting to pledges of $400,000. As we approach the end of the 2015 calendar year, we wanted to bring you up to date on the status of the “Living Our Faith, Building Our Future” capital campaign and how we are doing with regard to achieving our goals. As of December 2, 2015 the total of all contributions to the “Living Our Faith, Building Our Future”campaign is $3.6M, which is 55% of the goal of $6.5 million, and was achieved with only 327 pledges. For those just learning about our Campaign this is a very exciting and special year for St. Vincent Ferrer Parish as we commemorate the 75th Anniversary of our church, the 60th Anniversary of our school, and the 50th Anniversary of our parish festival! It's a time when school enrollment has reached an all-time high of nearly 350 students and projections indicate that it will exceed 400 in a few short years due to several factors; Baptismal rates (In our parish alone we joyfully celebrated over 85 baptisms last year.) Families moving to the greater Delray Beach area. Our school leadership. This enrollment growth creates a need to not only expand and renovate facilities to better accommodate current and future students, but to unify our student body in one building, create a more secure campus, and provide an educational environment in which to achieve even higher standards of Catholic educational excellence. It's also a time to better provide for the needs of our clergy and our 2,600 parish families by expanding church facilities to include a much needed narthex (foyer) at the main entrance with a dropping-off portico that will protect parishioners from those gusty sideway rains we experience so often in south Florida, side door porticos at both the east and west entrances to provide similar protection, and a formal sacristy and vestry room. In order to fund these initiatives, SVF has launched a special anniversary capital campaign entitled Living Our Faith, Building Our Future. The goal is to raise $6.5 million & beyond. I am proud and pleased to announce that several generous members of the SVF community, including 100% of our faculty and staff, have already committed nearly $3.6 million to the campaign effort. I am gratified and inspired by their sacrificial gifts and hope you are as well. Conceptual Ren- Very Reverend Canon Thomas J. Campaign Pledges Reach $3.6 Million!

It's a time when school enrollment has reached an all-time high of nearly 350 students and projections indicate that it will exceed 400 in a few short years due to several factors; Baptismal rates (In our parish alone we joyfully celebrated over 85

baptisms last year.) Families moving to the greater Delray Beach area.

The school’s primary focus is to provide a safe, loving environment for children to receive academic and spiritual guidance.

CHURCH – $900,000 The expansion will include:

• A portico entrance to the church. • Narthex vestibule. • Main sacristy room. • Server vestry/bridal room. The east & west entry doors of the church will also feature extended covered entrances. TOTAL: $6.5 million

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the goal of the campaign? A. $6,500,000 is needed to renovate and expand the school and church. Contributions received in excess of the cost of expanding & enhancing the school and church will go directly to the Parish Endowment Fund.

Q. How much should I give to the campaign? A. We ask that you give prayerful consideration to supporting this campaign to the best of your ability. Only you can decide what gift is right for you. If every school and parish family that has yet to give makes a minimum sacrificial gift of $1,500 ($500 a year for 3 years), the campaign will exceed our goal.

Q. Is my gift to the campaign tax-deductible? A. Yes. All gifts to the campaign are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Multiple year pledges are tax deductible for each year that payments are made.

Q. Can I make a gift of stock? A. Yes. As a matter of fact, you may prefer to make a gift of appreciated stock since you may avoid the capital gains tax. The tax deduction for a gift of stock is determined by the value of the stock on the date the transfer occurs. All donors are encouraged to consult their financial advisor about gifts of this type.

Q. Who is being asked to help meet this goal? A. Every parishioner, school family, faculty/staff member, parish staff member, and “friends” on our database will be asked to support this campaign. We are also seeking contributions from various foundations and community businesses that are committed to continuing the legacy of St. Vincent Ferrer Parish.

Q. When will the renovation and expansion projects begin? A. Diocesan policy is that a parish must have 100% of funds pledged with 70% ($4,000,000) in cash before it can receive permission to proceed with any renovation or construction project. We would love to begin in the summer of 2016, but only time will tell if we will be able to make that date happen. It is totally

dependent on how soon we reach the required amounts required by the Diocese. The school will be the first project due to the need.

Q. What if the campaign does not reach its goal? A. Based on the total of preliminary gifts and pledges received to date (nearly $3,000,000 from less than 5% of our parish families), we are confident that the goal will be surpassed. If, however, we should fall a bit short, the projects will be pared back to meet available funding, but we will still meet the needs of the parish.

Q. Is the school expansion only to accommodate for 100 more students? A. No. It is for much more. It is to meet the needs for safety, space, and SVF’s future. Due to the sustained increase in student enrollment at our school, we will run out of classroom space in 2017.

· The expansion would accommodate the 80 students currently in modular portables.

· The doubling of Grades 5, 7 & 8, PK4 & (1) PK 3 (3 year old program)

· Safety being our #1 priority, the main administrative offices would be moved to the front of the building facing George Bush Blvd. where visitors would gain access to the school building after being properly identified.

The overall infrastructure of the school building would be enhanced and expanded:

· Office space for: Conference room, Nurses Station, Asst. Principal, Guidance*, Religious Office* (*currently moved to Youth Center in the summer of ’15 due to lack of space) Within building: Music & Art Rooms (brought over from Parish Life Center), Computer Lab for K-5 & 6-8, Media Center /Science Lab PK 3 Classroom, (2) PK 4 Classrooms, Doubled Classrooms K-8, Enlarged Cafeteria, Teachers’ Bathroom Facilities, Teachers’ Lunchroom & Workroom, Resource Center

· Elevator · The older 1955 (current) building would be fully

renovated.
