DetailsCamp SOAR is a ve-day summer camp designed
to expose upcoming high school juniors and se-
niors with an interest in Aerospace Engineering tothe research and acilities at Texas A&M Universi-
ty’s (TAMU) Department o Aerospace Engineering
(AERO). During this week at TAMU, students will be
able to explore the eld through design projects
and departmental tours. They will have the oppor-
tunity to interact with current students as well as
world-renowned aculty.
Students will get to visit many o our acilities, in-
cluding but not limited to the Vehicle Systemsand Control Laboratory, Land Air and Space Ro-
botics Lab, the Flight Research Laboratory and
many more. Students will be given the choice o
pursuing an aircrat or space track, and then will
participate in a y-o event at the conclusion o
the week. Students will be exposed to the engi-
neering design process and the importance o
teamwork. Participants will stay on campus in
modern residence halls and will have use o the
University’s recreational acilities, the University
library and the University’s computer acilities.

July 26.Application To apply or Camp SOAR, you must complete and
submit all items listed below. Items must be post-
marked no later than May 21, 2013. Please make
sure all parts o the application are mailed in thesame envelope. We will not consider any incom-
plete applications.
A completed application packet should include: Cover sheet SOAR Summer Camp application Copy o student’s most current ofcialtranscript
250-word essay on why you are inter-ested in Aerospace Engineering and a
250-word essay on an obstacle you hadto overcome. Recommendation orm to be completed
by high school math or science teacher

EligibilityStudents who will be enrolled as high school seniors
or juniors in the all o 2013 are eligible to apply; weencourage minorities and women (groups under-represented in the eld o engineering) to apply.
Program CostsCamp ee, including participation, housing and
meals is $400. Applicants are asked to wait beore
sending any money when they apply or the pro-
gram, but will be asked to pay the program ee
ater they have been selected to participate. No-
tication o acceptance will be made by June 7,
2013. Participants are responsible or transporta-
tion arrangements and any costs associated with
transportation to and rom the camp. Transporta-
tion to camp activities will be provided by TAMUAERO camp sta.
