Week three began with a tent filled with lots of ruach - cheers by Regesh girls’ were heard loud and clear. Our daily Ra Ra Regesh began with relay races. “On your mark, get set…GO!” Congrats to the 2’s and 5/6’s on their excellent jumping, running and hustling skills! Sports are very important at Camp Regesh. All the campers began their week with exciting games of baseball, BBK, gaga, soccer, machanayim, hockey, kickball, and many other sports. Great teamwork and achdus! A special sportsmanship mention goes to Jordana Marks (3B) and Allison Bloch (3D)! Another AMAZING accomplishment in sports was seen in 2B. The campers actually beat the counselors twice this week! 2B had some really outstanding “All Stars”. Great job, Isabella Bruder, Hannah Greenberg and Zoe Gottesman! On Tuesday, Amy and Chana broke out Smiley Day with some big yellow smileys in preparation of Wednesday’s Smiley Day. And Smiley Day it was!! Wednesday found girls wearing smiley shirts, hats and big smiley stickers when they came off their buses. Smiley Day continued in the green tent with jokes and riddles galore! Campers were laughing and “Smiling” while listening to all the silly and funny jokes. “Why did the frown cross the road?” “It wanted to smile again” said Hailey Diamond (1A). Talia Distenfeld (2A) asked, “Why did the chicken NOT cross the road?” “Because it was chicken!” Rebecca Helfer (2C) asked, “What’s a cow’s favorite prayer?” “Moooooo Sof!” We also enjoyed a competitive hula hoop contest to complete Ra Ra Regesh. Smiley Day continued with more smiley stickers and smiley slap bracelets for everyone to enjoy. Scribblers were our yummy snack at the end of the day. “It’s a Torah that doesn’t unroll,” said Talia Lumerman of bunk 2A. (Continued on page 2) The Regesh Preschool is busy busy busy with activities galore! On Monday the Preschool bunks went on a Nature Scavenger Hunt. They were given a list of items to find all over camp. Wow, it is amazing what they were able to find: various leaves from different trees in different shapes, pine needles, mushrooms, and moss. During the hunt Elisha Berkowitz in PA found a ”funny” rock. In PB the campers found shiny rocks and red rocks. Yakira Rosenberg in PC found a very unique “Y” shaped twig. KA were great observers, Sidney Jerome found a birds egg on the field! One of the items on the list was garbage and in KB Allegra Kerstein said she was sad to find even a teeny bit of garbage on our beautiful Camp Regesh grounds. Sara Berkowitz in KC found a three leaf clover. Yoni Leiser in KD was amazed at all the worms and spiders he saw on the hunt. The scavenger hunt concluded with a science experiment to learn about photography. Each camper used one item from the hunt to put on a piece of photo paper which was put out in the sun and then wet in water. The children were pleasantly surprised at the results. In PA Josh Most said it looked like the picture that came off a tree. Kovi Ressler in PC had the most interesting leaf on his photo paper. Sydney Schwartz from KA was surprised to see a shadow of the grass and leaves. What fun this was!! Wednesday was “A Day “LIKE” Gan Eden”. The children bobbed for apples. Elisha Berkowitz in PA said” It was hard to get a bite but I bit the stem and it didn’t come off.” Yoni Mause said “the apple floated away.” In KA Ally Smilow thought taking apples with her teeth was very funny! Yoni Shapiro in KB bobbed for an apple and bit into it in one try! Ami Forman in KC said it was fun to eat the apple after he bit into it. We played Snake in the grass , and PC played “Don’t break the snake”, with Jaden Weissbrot the winner! Sara Snyder did a super job with her SSS sentence, SSneaky Simon Sez. Then, the whole PB bunk thought of Simon Sez actions that start with SSS. PC played “SSSounds like snake” and they came up with some funny snake sentences, Sela Regesh Preschool Upcoming Highlights (not all activities apply to all age groups. Schedules may change as conditions warrant) 7/16 Ned Returns 7/18-19 Internationals! JUNIOR DIVISION With a full 5 days of camp this week, it is incredible how much we were able to pack into the second week of July. To start, we must turn back the clock to last week. Mordechai Fox (Lamed Bais) joined in on the fun of those who were in the Chuf Division last year and brought in his parsha sheet which he had saved for the entire school year. Not to be outdone, Bunk Yud Gimmel won the Free Swim contest and received a special treat at lunch last Friday. Who will be the winner this week? Stay tuned for that info and more in next week’s Regesh Review. Now, we get to the excitement of week #3. While on the topic of bunk accomplishments, let’s give some shout SENIOR DIVISION This week Leagues is starting to heat up as we come down the stretch of the season. With only a few games left for the regular season each game has loads of importance for playoff positioning. The game of the week was definitely Monday’s hockey game between Dovid’s Double Dip Crunch and Moshe’s Mini Swirlz Peanut Butter Blasts. Mordy Itzkowitz (CIT) scored 7 goals, including the 18 th of the game for the Double Dip Crunch, moments later Ben Peres (CIT) scored the game-winner to make the final score 19-18. Hopefully the playoffs will be as exciting as many of the recent games have been. In our ‘Spotlight on a Staff Member’ section this week we have Yehoshua Krantz the Counselor of Bunk 6A. This is his first year in Camp Regesh and he has already become acclimated INTERMEDIATE DIVISION We’re in our third week of camp and things continue to be awesome! On Monday, we were lucky enough to have a special activity with Rabbi Schuster called, Wacky Sports (which, unfortunately had nothing to do with Wacky Mac). Some wacky and crazy activities that the campers participated in were juggling balloons, throwing Frisbees through hoops and stacking boxes while blindfolded. A fun time was had by all especially since there was a raffle for some fantastic (and some mediocre) prizes after the games. Thank you Rabbi Schuster! On Wednesday, we started Leagues early to make time for our annual TV Game Show. We had such a remarkable time answering questions and competing in physical challenges. You should have seen campers including Harrison Leiber (Mem Gimmel), Sam Hilbert (Mem Gimmel) and Harry Orlinsky (Lamed Bais) answering some WOW—it’s been Three Weeks Already! It is so hard to believe just how fast the summer is flying by. Indeed the week was awesome. Looking back, Thursday featured the effervescent smiles of hundreds of Regesh campers taking individual, bunk and family pictures. We can’t wait to share the results with you! Game show was so exciting with lots of brain and physical challenges. What a blast! With the half point arriving next Friday, we look forward to Ned’s return and the different INTERNATIONAL competitions in the various divisions. Again we remindyou to visit us at Flickr. And, please like us on Facebook @ www.facebook.com/regeshonline. The weeks keep flying by here in Camp Regesh; I guess it’s true “time flies when you’re having fun”! Wacky sports was a big hit! Watching some of the really wacky activities, such as blindfolded box stacking, and throwing hula hoops over counselors brought laughter to everybody! Our first-ever new game of Outburst was a lot of fun, with campers, and a lot of staff, getting to shout out all that they knew about each category. Although there were winners for the event, the fun had by all made everyone a winner! Smiley Day was another smashing success! Although every day features smiles on the faces of our campers, on this day campers came wearing something smiley. It was great to see how creative our campers (and their parents) can really be! Our theme song continues to take off! We even have campers that can sing the whole song by heart!! Keep it up, and remember… “there’s no other place that I’d rather be”. Stay tuned for next week, when we hope to have more great fun, including the return of Ned, Orange Day, and something new on the schedule, Internationals. Hmmm, I wonder what that is? I thought we weren’t having that this year? I guess we’ll have to stay tuned to find out. Where is all this happening? Why, at Camp Regesh, of course! Rabbi Yehuda Schuster Transportation Reminder We are pleased to accommodate any special requests for busing. If your child is going to a friend we can only place them on the friend’s bus if arrangements are made before hand and permission is granted. It is extremely important that the Camp be notified of the change. To do so, please send a note to the counselor and place a phone call to the office. This way we can continue to offer the very best service possible. Our policy is to hold any bus that does not have full attendance or any bus with extra campers until we can sort out the confusion. These unnecessary delays can be averted with your full cooperation. Additionally, if any child/ren come to camp late you must sign them in at the front office. Thank-you. Regesh Boys (continued)

to the ‘Regesh Way’ as Yehoshua enjoys playing soccer with bunks 6A and CIT during Free Swim. Yehoshua is entering 12th grade in Frisch and is an avid follower of the New York Jets. In other camp happenings, this has been a very busy week for the Senior Division. Firstly Davening and Benching has been really good thanks to Aaron Borgen (5A), Chaim Peres (5A), Yisrael Meir Schuster (5A), Sam Weingard (5B), Justin Eichel (5B), Avinoam Wizman (6A) and Menashe Schuster (CIT). We were very fortunate this week to have two Special Activities with Rabbi Schuster. The first was ‘Wacky Sports’ the second was ‘Outburst’. At Wacky Sports, A.J. Raiken (6A) built a pyramid out of boxes while blindfolded, Marc Fishkind (5A) threw the most Frisbees through a hoop and Mitchell Wolf (5B) won a boomerang. Outburst was an easy game for the Senior Division as they are used to screaming things out. It was a fun game; sadly no bunk in our division was able to beat the bunks in the Intermediate Division. Also this week we had the Return of Al the Game Show Guy. Kudos to Ephy Herschmann (JC of 5B) for winning the ‘Dance-Off’, Chanan Burstien (CIT) for knowing a lot about TV, movies & food and Menachem (Division Head) for destroying in the Sports category. Of Menachem’s sports knowledge Yankel Levovitz (7A) questioned, “It’s great that you can name the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, but do you know what Rashi says on the pasuk of Uvnei Korach Lo Meisu?” At the Archery Range this week many campers participated and shot quite well. Great job by Louis Waxman (CIT), Moshe Pachtinger (5A), Jason Bloch (5B) and Yonatan Kaye (5B) for being ‘on target’! The CITs started a slow-clap for Jen the A&C Lady to show their appreciation for her always getting age appropriate projects for them to do. Of course we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the excitement by Lunch this week. Firstly, Wednesday was Barbecue Day and Thursday was Breakfast for Lunch Day which are two fan favorites. Moshe Kin (5A) had a very funny and original joke on Joke Day, Aryeh Alter (5B) and Tani Sabo (CIT) won the Parsha Sheet Raffle, and Avi Blitzer (6A) and Yonah Seiferas (CIT) won the ‘Food Game’ which is somewhat hard to explain in writing so please ask your sons how to play. Lastly, on a personal note, I’d like to thank the Rabbeim of the Senior Division (Rabbi Rizel-5A, Rabbi Kosowsky-5B, Rabbi Kraines-6A and Rabbi Braunfeld-CIT) for learning on Thursday in memory of my father’s 3rd Yahrziet. Hope you all enjoyed the cupcakes! So in summation, three weeks are now over, five more left, Camp is awesome and the Senior Division is rocking! Zei Matzliach, ~Menachem

SENIOR DIVISION (CON’T) outs to Bunk Yud Daled for “rockin’ it out” at Cook and Bake, Bunks Chuf Hay and Yud Aleph for showing expertise at Outburst, Bunk Chuf Bais for all fitting on the island at ropes, and the Blue Team for being victorious at the Game Show. We continue with the great news that with an additional prize choice being offered, over 60 boys brought in their parsha sheets. If we keep up this kind of increase each week, we can be giving out more than 100 prizes by the end of the summer! Rabbi Schuster was in rare form this week as Wacky sports kicked off the week and saw Michael Green (Chuf Aleph) throw 5 Hula Hoops around his counselor while Joshua Markovitz (Yud Daled) showed tremendous prowess at getting a ball into a can from clear across the stage. Of course, there are the lunch activities which featured Joke Day (Yehoshua Dahan-Chuf Bais, Daniel Baron-Yud Daled, Zev Minchenberg- Chuf Bais), Speak for 30 seconds (Chaim Mermelstien- Chuf Daled, Moshe Nadritch- Tes Vav), Contact List (Rafi Shetrit- Chuf Gimmel, Judah Vogel- Yud Daled) and I like… (Yoel Safier- Yud Aleph, Ari Herman- Yud Daled, Jordan Reider- Chuf Bais). Speaking of lunch, thank you so much to Rabbi Braunfeld and Rabbi Kraines for serving with such a smile even on non-“smile day” days- they should have gotten a prize in addition to all the campers who came to camp decked in their best smiles (like Charlie Simmons and Eitan Sulemanoff- Yud Bais). However, in addition to the special events, the everyday activities saw some not-so-everyday accomplishments and…here…it…goes: Ryan Belkin (Yud Gimmel) catching a counselor’s kick in kickball, David Elishis (Yud Daled) for hitting a bullseye in archery, Sammy Teplitsky (Yud Gimmel) for making a great save in soccer, Charlie Nussbaum (Tes Vav), Aiden Berger and Max Sandel (Chuf Gimmel) for all hitting triples or home runs in baseball, Alex Zakheim, Sam Adler (Chuf Hay) and Jared Kinches (Chuf Bais) for helping out others at swim, Jonathan Rosenberg (Yud Gimmel) Ben Balsam- Yud Daled, and Oren Leitner (Tes Vav) celebrating their birthdays with their bunkmates, and Sammy Hershman (Chuf Gimmel) having an encouraging word for everyone in his bunk, and the completion of the stories of Doniel and Mendel (Yud Division) and David (Chuf Division) during Torah time! With all that took place this week- what could possibly happen next week?! If we knew that, we could write next week’s edition now. Oh well, we’ll just have to wait. See ya’ on Monday! Good Shabbos, Avrumi and Rabbi Minch

pretty difficult questions like, “What is the ocean that is touching California? (The Pacific). Doni Loren (Lamed Gimmel), Ezriel Vinar (Mem Gimmel) and Aiden Einhorn (Lamed Alef) were some of the campers competing in challenges like Championship Simon Says (winner Kovi Wieder (Lamed Gimmel)), blindfolded ball catch (Winner Tzvi Klein (Counselor Mem Bais)) and Tug of War (Winner Elchanan Tzur (JC Mem Alef)). The highlight of the show was watching Moshe Auslander (counselor Mem Alef) dancing like a professional especially when it was time for some free-style. If you missed the show, you can watch the video on YouTube (just kidding). Thank you Al and Alex for hosting the show! “Say Cheese!” (Once again, nothing to do with macaroni and cheese) Picture Day went off without a hitch and in record time (11:50 AM for the whole camp if you are keeping count)! Seeing everybody in their Regesh shirts and with smiling faces was great. We would like to thank all of the bunks that quickly lined up in height order. We can’t wait to see the pictures and say things like, “Is that how I really look?” and “I can’t believe I blinked!”! After lunch (or breakfast) on Thursday, we had an extraordinary game of Outburst with Rabbi Schuster. The campers had to call out as many NBA teams, Regesh Special Days or subjects in Yeshiva that they could in one minute. They got a point for each item that could be found on Rabbi Schuster’s list. Congratulations to Bunks Lamed Bais, Lamed Daled and Mem Gimmel for their three-way tie for first place! This Friday, we finished up our regular season of Leagues. All week our standings were see-sawing as everyone was vying for first place. The standings kept changing but finally Josh’s Grape Juices pulled ahead of the pack to lock into the position of first place. Next week will be playoffs, good luck to all of the teams! A quick shout out from Aryeh Winter (Captain of Winter’s Wines) to Jonah Schachter (Mem Bais) for being a star player during soccer. Some items of importance: Aaron Goldgewert (Lamed Bais) returned a PSP that he found, Yasher Koach. Rami Fink (Mem Alef) was great on Joke Day. The Lameds played an intense game of Quad Survival. Dovi (Division Head) played a fun (yet confusing) game with Lamed Bais. Lamed Alef and their Rebbe, Avromi, dedicated their learning group B’zchus Menachem’s (Senior Division Head) father Z”L. Lamed Daled won Slurpees for having the highest swim attendance during free swim. Elijah Mosberg (Lamed Bais) had his mouth painted for Smiley Face Day. Aiden Einhorn (Lamed Alef) climbed across the rock wall in 21 seconds. The winners of the Parsha sheet raffle were Max Korenman (Lamed Gimmel) and Avery Hyman (Lamed Alef). Bring in signed Parsha sheets next week. You have to be in it to win it! Lesson of the week: Don’t be a dodgeball when Eli Rothenberg (Lamed Bais) is throwing it, you might pop! Good Shabbos! Dovi and Shlomo

Regesh Preschool (cont.)

Wednesday brought much fanfare with our annual “brain challenge” Game Show. We were thrilled and impressed with all those very “smart” girls who answered some really tough trivia questions. Great job to Veeta Gewirtz of bunk 4C, and Hendel Seif, counselor of bunk 4A who impressed us with her answers to the trivia questions on all sorts of topics. Kudos to winners of Al’s Simon Says contest: Esme Kamlet (4A), Laura Brandwein (4C), Leah Baron (5-6), and of course our yearly Simon Says expert Chaya Sara Auslander, counselor of bunk 2A. Thank you, Al, for a great game show once again here at Camp Regesh. On Thursday a sea of children dressed in grey T-shirts poured off the buses wearing their fresh Regesh T-shirts and huge smiles. On this Picture Day it was exciting to see everyone’s bunk spirit. Wow, what a busy day!! Our week at Cook and Bake focused on a delicious and popular food from our homeland of Israel. The girls cut up a scrumptious and healthy variety of vegetables for Israeli salad and made delectable falafel. The aroma at camp from the activity at Cook and Bake made us all feel like we were on Ben Yehuda Street!! Science and Nature classes this week were so-o-o exciting as the girls created mini lava lamps – what a fun experience!! Melissa Dresner (5/6) and Perri Rossman (5/6) wrote a very special cheer to teach at Ra Ra Regesh this week.

Ra Ra Regesh, We have fun. We play all day, And tomorrow will be a brand new day. When I look back at my day, I say hey, what a wonderful day! So many activities. At free swim I like to go boating, I like to go with a friend. Everyone smiles at Camp Regesh!

Next Tuesday we will start our annual “T-shirt Tuesdays” where everyone tries to wear her Regesh T-shirt , so keep those shirts available for the remaining Tuesdays of the summer. You can wear a Regesh T-shirt from any year starting with the year 1989 through 2012 on “T-shirt Tuesdays”. For those staff members who were Regesh campers – dig out those old shirts! Girls Swim

Wow, with all this hot weather it’s a great thing that our campers get in the water twice a day. We’ve been able to keep really cool. Instruction has been super and the campers are quickly gaining new swimming skills from floating to treading water to learning the butterfly stroke. Of course on Fridays we have extra fun with our games. Just ask what games your daughter(s) participated in today. Our sparkling lake gets more popular everyday and we are so proud of the campers who passed the deep-water lake test these last two weeks. slurps spaghetti, Simcha sells salmon. KD played “Rattle Snake, Rattle Snake” and Eliyahu Zackai liked tapping the Morah. The children enjoyed painting their own snake and coloring a stained glass flower decoration. Thursday was Pet Rock Day. Each camper found a favorite rock and created a pet. The children named the pet rock and made a home for him. Our campers enjoy many special activities, led by experienced specialty staff here at Camp Regesh. The Preschool bunks participated in a nature activity directed by Morah Rachel Katz or Morah Dina Friedman. Last week the children made rock necklaces. This week the children explored transitions between solid and liquid by making goop! To some, trying to comprehend the science of matter may seem complicated, but in our nature activity, understanding about States of Matter were made easy and interesting! Bocce is an ancient game, whose modern adaptation most closely resembles bowling. It requires skill, strategy and just a little bit of luck. Bocce ball is a great game to play outside on a beautiful day. In the Camp Regesh Preschool we had a Bocce competition on Thursday. Our bunk champions were: KA Danielle Beckoff, KB: Lela Weisberger and Jeremy Tare. KC: Yonatan Halstuch, KD: Lily Kudowitz and Adam Zavodnick. At the end of the day the bunks played a championship game. The preschoolers are always excited when Captain Dovid, aka Mr. Dovid Nulman , comes to entertain and interact with his fun songs and special ruach. Last Friday, the children enjoyed their pre “three weeks” mini show. Everybody participated with all the children singing , smiling and clapping their hands . Some campers are ready to go to deep water orientation during instructional swim. Kudos to two campers in Bunk KB who have passed the deep water test. Mazel Tov to Julia Herschman and Maytal Abehsera! Friday was Bunk Day in the Regesh Preschool. Each bunk made a poster and a song about the following mitzvoth or midot : PA Brachot, PB Zerizut, PC Tzdakah, KA Emet, KB, Kashrut, KC Shabbat, and KD Mezuzot. The Torah Portion of the Week is Pinchos Pinchas acted zealously in this week's Torah portion to stop a public display of immorality. Pinchas decided that he couldn't just look on. He stood up for what was right, and because of him, many lives were saved. We learn from here that there are times that a person has to take action for what is right. He is rewarded by being made a Cohen -- by Divine decree. Shabbat Shalom, Morah Devorah
