Gamperc and Buddies - Who are They and Who Should Attend

CAMPERSCampers are adults from 18 to 35 with disabilities. Camp Opportunity is about participation so we acceptonly people who can engage in all activities for the entire week with minimum supervision and help.

As a basic guide we accept physical and mental disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Spina Bifida,Down Syndrome, Vision lmpaired, Wheelchair Bound and Head injured applicants.However while we have a camp nurse on site all week, we are noia high care organisation as generally ourBuddies and volunteers are without nursing or medical experience.Campers who have attended a previous Camp Opportunity are not eligible to attend again.

BUDDIESBuddies are able bodied volunteers between 18 to 35 with the ability to attend and stay on camp for theentire week and be willing to participate in all €mp activities. They'are volunteers so we ensure that weadequately cater fdr Camfers io minimise stress on the Buddies and the Camp Committee.

As a Buddy you will experience living with and helping to guide a disabled person to participate in activities,!o form friendships and enjoy a week of new experienceJand fun outside their normal home environment.ln the past Buddies have described the camp as a wonderfully rewarding personal experience and manyhave returned to attended following camps.

HOW TO NOMINATE TO ATTEND CAMP OPPORTUNIW

All nominations for Gampers and Buddies must besubmitted on the supplied 2016 nomination forms

"Campers" and "Buddies" must be over 1g to attend

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Gampers previously afrending camp opportunity are not eligible again.

Youth Exchange Students are not eligible due to Rt's Youth protection policy

Buddies need their own transport to and from Gamp opportunity.

Parentslcarers are responsible for transport of Campers to and from Camp Opportunity.

All nominations are assessed by the Camp Opportunity committee with sole discretion on final selections.Outcomes will be advised directly to applicants, and clubs, including a check list of what to bring to camp.
