10 Reasons I Love Camp Meeting I confess I am a camp meeting type of guy. I love camp meetings! And I LOVE:

1. Fellowship - It is awesome to just stand around in the back of the Tabernacle and fellowship with old friends and meet new friends. 2. Sharing ideas – I always enjoy listening to other pastors and ministers share ideas they have tried in their local church or in their ministry. If I leave a meeting with one good idea, I feel the meeting has been a success. 3. Coaching and mentoring – There is nothing like sitting down with a seasoned minister and pouring your heart out to him, asking him how he handled different situations when he was a pastor, or asking him to give you some pointers on how your ministry can be more effective. I have always had several seasoned ministers in my life that I asked to hold me accountable and to mentor me. Our desire should be more than just being a lecturer, but to also be taught the skills of discipleship. 4. The Retired Ministers – I love sitting around with the retired ministers and listening to the stories of old (especially those ministers with a great sense of humor). I love listening to their struggles and how God brought victory. I love church history, hearing how God developed Pentecost in a State, and the men and women who blazed the trails. 5. The Young People – I love watching the leaders of tomorrow develop their skills on stage in a state setting. I love watching a young Christian lady blush when a handsome young man walks by or a young man stutter when introducing himself to a beautiful young lady at camp meeting. I love watching young people fall in love with their Pentecostal heritage. 6. The WORD – As a pastor I loved returning to my church with all kinds of preaching nuggets I got at camp meeting while listening to the preacher preach. And when my members would say, “they ought to let you preach that at camp meeting.” I would just look at them and smile. 7. The Worship - Oh, how I love worshipping with my brothers and sisters in the Lord at camp meeting. There are few things as enjoyable as complaining that the music is too loud, too low, too long, too old, or too new. And why do the same old people get to sing all the time? Oh, I love it, I love it, I love it! 8. Letting Off Some Steam – complaining about the State Overseer, or the “young bucks trying to take over,” or the “old men not relinquishing the baton”, and declaring how all the church’s problems could be solved if everyone just listened to me, then standing on one soap box and declaring how we’re dropping the standard of holiness and jumping on another and preaching we’re too legalistic. 9. Seeing My Friends - Some whom I may not have seen since last camp meeting. 10. Going out to eat after church – Laughing, eating, and relaxing! 11. Catching up on the news – Camp meeting is a great time to catch up on the news from across the state and to learn about what is taking place in the lives others. 12. Going out to eat again – Laughing, eating, and relaxing some more!

conducted our biennial Teen Talent Festival, with 179 entries of teenagers across Kentucky displaying

their God-given talents. Our State winners and runners-up will represent you this August at the

International Teen Talent Festival in Cleveland, Tennessee. Please be in prayer for their safety as they

prepare to minister. As this edition of Update goes to print, Girls Blast 2015 will be upon us. We are

looking forward to a great day! And KYC2015 #truth is right around the corner. Please be in prayer for

M.E.T.C. Are you looking to start a girls ministries program at your church? A great

place to start is by enrolling in the Mentor Enrichment Training Course

(METC)

This manual is an excellent self-study course for all mentors (counselors),

though not required. The METC program will assist with some of the

unique challenges that ministry to girls presents. This manual consists of

six sections titled:

A Girls Club Mentor…Ministers

The METC program contains a Bible study, scripture worksheets, and cur-

rent information to train our Girls Clubs leaders. Each notebook will serve

as an excellent resource guide for mentors. This manual continues to in-

clude vital church and club histories, as well as age group characteristics.

All four clubs will use the same training course, preparing mentors for

working with any group. The manual, also available in Spanish, is $20 and

The State Conference Hall was filled with excitement

on March 28th for the "Kentucky Senior Adult Day of

Worship,"

The event was officially called "The Hebron Reunion."

Today, Hebron is the world's oldest Jewish Community.

Joshua assigned Hebron to Caleb for him to conquer and

settle as a Jewish city in the territory of the Tribe of Judah.

Forty-five years earlier after spying the land and giving a

good report, Caleb was promised Hebron. So, at the age of

eighty-five when offered an easier task, standing at the

foot of the mountain Caleb said, "Give me this mountain!"

On this March weekend

our senior Church of God

Saints did exactly what

Caleb did. They stood at

the foot of their mountain

and took hold of their

promised land. It was a

great day of fellowship

and revival.

On February 26-27th, 2015, the

Presence of God saturated this

campus. Though we had to work

around the snow storm of the century

and reschedule Prayer Conference for

a week later than we had planned,

God was present when we got here.

On Thursday we kicked it off with an amazing

message from Bishop Rabon about “touching the

untouchables”. He encouraged us to reach beyond the

four walls and reach the lost. He helped us under-

stand that sometimes we need to be reminded that

there were times when we were “untouchable” too,

But God looked beyond our imperfections and provid-

ed salvation to us. He illustrated this sermon so well

by using the account in Matthew 8 where Jesus heals

the leper. It was a wonderful

service .

Then on Friday, Dr. McGirt

delivered two incredible teaching

sessions about church leader-

ship. He compelled us to keep

moving forward and to not get

overwhelmed by the day to day

task of leading people in their

walk. He gave excellent tips for

coping with stress in the ministry, parsonage, and

the church. He reminded us that “problems are an

opportunity for God to do his best” &

“The best way out of stress is to go

through it”.

Then on Friday night, Mitchell Tolle

Sr., gave us a word from God that

pushed us to do what God calls us to

do. The word was that sometimes we

don’t know what to do; we just need

to know what we are not going to do

anymore. He expounded on this thought by using the

story of David and Goliath. David didn't know what

to do he just knew he was not going to live in defeat

and let a “bully named Goliath be the victor”. He

didn’t have much to work with, but he had God, faith,

and a familiar weapon of choice—and that was

plenty! Brother Tolle's message ended with a chal-

lenge for all of us to rise and use what we have and

watch our “giants” fall.

Each night was packed with powerful worship and

great altar services. Prayer Conference 2015 was

awesome!

School of The Prophets was a huge success. We had

more than 400 laypeople, leaders, pastors, student

pastors, and children’s ministers at the Church of God

campground learning to expand their ministries by

gathering new information and by developing the

knowledge they’ve already obtained. They were

encouraged to keep moving forward and to network with

other ministers and laypeople.

Each person was given the opportunity to attend classes

taught by seasoned and well educated professionals

that would help them develop the ministries of their

respective churches and reach beyond those four walls.

These classes included Youth & Discipleship, Children’s

Ministry, Finances, Bookkeeping, Relationship Building,

Music, Senior Citizen Ministry, Evangelism, Ministerial

Development and so much more.

It was an incredible day of training. Everyone that

attended was pleased and left asking for more. Hopefully

we will be able to expand next year and offer even more.
