WHAT IS CAMP GEMS?
WHO WILL DIRECT THE CAMP?ONU faculty members instruct the camp courses. Their qualifications include excellent backgrounds in their specific subjects and high levels of interest in working with girls of this age level.
A lifeguard is on duty for swimming activities.
The camp counselors are female college students majoring in engineering, math and science. The counselors assist faculty members with teaching responsibilities. Each camper is assigned to a small family group and camp counselor for the entire camp.
Camp GEMS is an engineering, mathematics and science camp designed to develop interest, excite-ment and self-confidence in young women entering grade seven or eight in fall 2012. This four-day residential camp for up to 72 young women will be held July 15-18, 2012. The camp features hands-on activities in math, science and computers. A class ratio of 12 students per teacher is emphasized to encourage maximum interaction and instruction. The camp is designed for the all-around student, not just those who excel academically. The camp also offers many all-camp activities such as swimming and tennis. All sleeping, eating and instructional activities are located on the campus of Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
