On to 2016! If you have made any resolutions for the new year, I hope that you are successful in keeping them. I usually don’t make resolutions because I haven’t been that successful in seeing them through in the past. This year, being another year wiser, I have made a few that I hope will bring better health to our family. I received a new crockpot for Christmas this year, one that you can operate through an app from an iphone. So my intention is to prepare at least one meal/week using the crockpot. I am not the great- est chef, but will do my best to try something new. If January is going to be colder than December then some healthy, comfort food will be nice to come home to. I wish you good luck with your resolutions too! The month of December at Camilla was indeed a busy one for learning, singing, performing, running and playing. Special thanks to the teachers, and coaches for their extra time devoted to our students for their time after school spent on planning the Christmas concert and coaching our students in running and bas- ketball. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly these events come together and how wonderful they are for our students. We also have two basketball coaches from the community this year, working with our students. Their time, expertise, commitment, and love for the sport is much appreciated. Our school division is unfolding a process to develop the next three year plan. I encourage you to partici- pate as much as you can by providing your thoughts through this platform. You should have already re- ceived some information on the “Thought Exchange”. Students, staff, parents and other community members will be a part of the planning in the coming weeks. There has also been some interest generated in regards to a French Immersion program here at Camilla School. Please see the attached letter in regards to this should this interest you. Have a wonderful wintery January!! Mrs. Morgan

Happy New Year to everyone! I trust everyone had a nice break over the holiday season.

I am not the great-est chef, but will do my best to try something new. If January is going to be colder than December then some healthy, comfort food will be nice to come home to. I wish you good luck with your resolutions too!

The month of December at Camilla was indeed a busy one for learning, singing, performing, running and playing. Important message:

In the past month, the school office has been receiving an unusually large number of calls from parents re-questing us to inform their child of an alternate transportation arrangement. These calls are disruptive to classes and often are coming in last minute. It is difficult for us to ensure that the students have received the message, especially at the end of the school day during dismissal time. To limit the confusion for the stu-dents, please make these arrangements as much in advance as possible, and notify the teachers/school in writing (note in agenda, written note etc.) We will continue to ask that students leaving prior to dismissal are signed out at the office by their parent or guardian. Thanks so much for your cooperation in this mat-ter.

Non-Perishable Food Donations

We are asking for donations of non perishable foods such as granola bars, breakfast bars, fruit cups, Kraft dinner cups etc. that can be kept in storage for students that either forget their lunch or for those who are unable to bring a lunch on any given day. If you feel that you would like to make a monetary donation to the school to

help us in providing nutrition for those without, you can do so in cash or cheque made out to Camilla School and if requested can be given a tax receipt in return for all donations of $20.00 or more.

Jr Leadership collected toonies for toys and pur-chased toys from Discovery Toys that went to a family in need. Thank you to all that donated to Toonies for Toys.

Claymation In-School Field Trip

On Monday and Tuesday, January 25th and 26th, the 4/5M and 5W classes will be taking part in a "Claymation" in-school fieldtrip. To wrap up the fractured fairy

tale unit, students will use the scripts they wrote to create a stop motion animated movie! Movies will be complete with actions, characters, voices and sound effects.

I am pleased to announce that the communities of Villeneuve, RQB, Mearns, Alcomdale, and Calahoo are excited to sponsor a Syrian Refugee Family. The response we have received to this humanitarian crisis from our communities has been encouraging and heart-warming to say the least! If you are inter-ested in finding out how you can help, please see the Camilla Website under Community Links for more information. You may also contact Chris Moore at [email protected] for more information. Thank you for your support!
