Series InformationSince their first meeting in the 1969-70 season the Aggies lead overall series 17-16 over the Greyhounds. Last season, both teams won on their own home court with CU getting a 72-57 win on Jan. 11, 2012.

Under Head Coach Wade Alexander the Aggies are a perfect 2-0 at home against Eastern New Mexico. Greyhounds at a GlanceEastern New Mexico is 5-3 overall and 2-0 in conference thus far in the season. Despite their winning record, the greyhounds are 1-2 away from their home court falling to Texas A&M International and Lubbock Christian.

The Greyhounds as a team are out-scoring their opponents 75.0 to 69.6 and are getting edged out in the rebounding battle (35.5-36.0). Addi-tionally, They are a +19 in blocks and in steals ENMU sits at a +6. From the field the Greyhounds are hitting 48.1% of their shots and from downtown they are 42.8%.

Rodney Blackmon is leading ENMU in scoring averaging 17.0 point per game. This season Blackmon is 40.8% from the field and 41.3% from the arc. Dennis Hardwell is a two-tool player who can play both sides of the court. In their eight games, Hardwell has 10 blocks, 11 steals, and is averaging 11.6 points. He was also named LSC Defensive player of the week twice this season. Off the glass Rafael Love is leading ENMU with 8.1 rebounds per game and is averaging 15.5 points per game.

In the first half the Greyhounds are getting out-scored 248-251 through their games thus far. The second half is a different story though with ENMU scoring 104 more points (352) in the final 20 min-utes of the game.

Second Half Turnovers Hurt Ags in CanyonDespite leading at the half, the Cameron University men’s basketball team falls today, in Canyon, Texas, to the #25 West Texas Buffs, 57-38.

The Aggies fell behind by two early and the score remained that way for the first four minutes. CU was able to put three more on the board before the second media timeout and then mounted a rally and put up six more before the 10 minute mark finishing the first half up 23-16.

Cameron shot well in the first half, going 38.5% from the field and 20% from the arc. They were +1 in both turnover and rebound margin through the first 20 minutes. Tim Johnson was key to the Aggies rally as he put up eight points with a couple coming off WT turnovers. Jonathan Patino had five points and four rebounds in the half.

The second half was a different story for the men and they did not score a point in the second half until five minutes into the half and gave up a seven point lead.

Wade AlexanderHead Coach | Fifth Season | East Central ‘01

Wade Alexander is entering his fifth season at the helm of the Cameron Aggie men’s basket-ball coach. In the 2011-12 season Alexander guided the Aggie men to their second winning season in a row and won their first post-season game since 1993 in the Lone Star Conference Tour-nament. The program also had the LSC men’s basketball player of the year, Milton Garner who also was named to the 2012 Reece’s Divi-sion II All-Star Game.

Prior to coaching at CU, Alexander was the assistant men’s basket-ball coach at East Central University. In just his first season, Alexander ended an 11-year postseason drought and took the Aggie men to the Lone Star Conference Champi-onship tournament. CU had not been to the postseason since the 1997-1998 season. Alexander was awarded Lone Star Conference and Cameron University Coach of the Year honors for his successful efforts. Alexander served as the assistant men’s basketball coach under head coach Terry Shannon at East Central University from 2005-2008. While at ECU he helped lead the Tigers to a third-place finish in the LSC after the 2005-2006 season, and was instrumental in the development of seven LSC All-Conference players. He also served as the program’s recruiting coordinator under head coach Terry Shannon and was responsible for all of the administrative duties. Prior to ECU, Alexander was the assistant men’s basketball coach at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (Kingsville, TX), another fellow Lone Star Conference school. While on the Javelina coaching staff under head coach Pete Peterson, Alexander helped to guide the squad to a third-place finish in the LSC after the 2004-2005 season. He also was instrumental in TAMUK’s #10 regional ranking that year. Alexander started his coaching career at Bacone College (Muskogee, OK) as the assistant men’s basketball coach and head men’s and women’s golf coach. With the Warriors and under head coach Alan Foster, Al-exander helped lead the team to a second-place finish in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) after the 2003-2004 season. Like at ECU and TAMUK, Alexander was the recruiting coordinator at Bacone College. In Alexander’s eight years of coaching experience he as had a total of 16 all-conference players and 14 players go on to the professional ranks. He has also coached 14 student-athletes to an all-conference honor. Alexander received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science de-gree from East Central in May of 2001. He then stayed at ECU to achieve his Master’s degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis on Sports Administration in December of 2002. The Marlow, Okla., native is mar-ried to the former Dana Williams of Comanche, Okla., and the couple has a daughter named Addison.

CU BY THE NUMBERS behind the arc. They were able to convert all their free throws in the second, going 6-6 from the line. WT countered that with a 50% FG percentage, 33.3% from three, and 87.5% from the charity stripe, going to the line 16 times in the half.

CU allowed way too many points in the paint, and could not control the boards, as West Texas had 30 points in the paint and out rebounded CU 57-38. CU turned the ball over 16 times in the second half to give them 24 in the game, compared to West Texas’ 14.

Tim Johnson led the way for the Aggies with 14 points and three as-sists. Craig Foster scored eight and Jonathan Patino finished with five points and six rebounds. For the game, the Aggies were 33.3% from the field, 15.4% from three, and 100% from the free throw line.

Up next for CameronThe men’s basketball team will travel to Las Vegas Nev. to play Rollins College and Florida Tech on Dec. 15-16. These games will be streamed online through cameronaggies.com with Don Vieth on the call.

Following the trip to Las Vegas the Aggies will have 11 days off before playing at UTEP on 12/28 in exhibition play.
