Assignment Objective: Using a wood panel the student was asked to create an interesting pattern that had personal significance to them. Their patterns were imbued with meaning. We poured resin on the finished composition. The student was asked to write a statement about their finished work.

Assignment Objective: This is the first assignment give to my 3-D students. The assignment is titled, “From 2-D to 3-D.” It helps the student transition from 2-Dimensional to 3-Dimensional space. From the assignment, “I would like you to create a self-portrait that hangs on the wall using found objects and materials. The objects may be found on the street, found in nature, found in the store, or objects from home. You may use paint, spray paint, or other media to add color to your work.”

Daniel - Junior3-D Design, Spring 2012Framed photograph hung from a brick wall on Arizona State University’s Tempe campus. The student used PVC pipe as a non-destructive method for displaying the work.
Assignment Objective: To understand and experiment with concepts of scale and context as applied to three-dimensional form. The students also learned about the natural world and explored ways through which to artistically engage their environment outside the classroom.
