Camera Term Example Connotations – why it would be used and what effect
Long shot Head to toe shot – maybe to show body language.
Close up Used to show emotion of character.
Pull focusAerial shot Shows an air view of
location maybe to show change of location or show aftermath of an attack.
Medium shotMedium long shot Can see body
language and see any expression what character is conveying.
Establishing shot Shows where the action is taking place normally found at the beginning of any drama or film.
Point of view Shows the audience an image from the characters point of view to maybe something only they see.

Extreme close up Focus on some specific body part.
Over the shoulder shot
Over the shoulder shot maybe to show the relationship between two characters while engaged in conversation.
Two shot Two characters in one camera shot maybe to show the relationship between them.
Whip pan Fast camera movement maybe to add a sense of urgency depending on the type of drama.
