Over the shoulder shotThis is an effective shot to show conversation between two characters.

Tracking ShotThis draws the audience in or out of the scene by making the camera zoom slowly in or out.

Sideways track or crab shotThe camera moves along with the character or object to create pace or distance.

Long shotThis is often used at the beginning to establish the setting and focus of the scene.

Arc shotThis is a circular shot around a character, possibly looking towards another character for an imposing effect or to give the audience a wider view of what is happening.

Tilt shotThe camera is moved upwards or downwards on an axis, for example starting with the feet and ending up with the face giving a close up view of the whole character and giving an imposing sense of power.

ZoomFocusing more or less closely on a character, to allow more to be seen in the shot or to focus in on emotion.
