ATCEN Learning Centre provides the perfect Cambridge IGCSE/ O Levels tuition foundation for students, aged 12-16 seeking to prepare for secondary or higher education in Malaysia and overseas. Our academic and exam oriented tuition programme prepares students to undertake the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in 1.5 years to 4 years. The Cambridge International Examinations, IGCSE is internationally recognised as equivalent to the UK GCSE and The International GCE O Levels examinations and is accepted as equivalent to our local Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) certificate exams accepted by colleges and universities worldwide.

The IGCSE is the worlds most popular international qualification for 14-16 year olds. It develops successful students, giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education, including progression to A-Level study, and equips them with skills for immediate employment.

ATCEN Learning Centre Year 7 Year 9 Tuition Programmes(Age 12 14)

Start studying for your IGCSE/ O Levels exams in April 2013 (Year 7 Express) / August 2013 (Year 7 Normal). This programme combines high quality language tuition with subject teaching and is designed for students leading to their exams in three to four years. The programme consists of building a firm foundation in English, Mathematics and Science followed by an exam oriented study pathway to the IGCSE exams in 2015 / 2016.

At ATCEN Learning Centre, we prepare students to be ready for UK Cambridge IGCSE/ O Levels examinations in four years after their UPSR.

A)

Our Objectives

ATCEN Learning Centre IGCSE/ O Levels (Year 10 & Year 11) Tuition Programmes(Age 15 16)

Upon completion of Year 9 Checkpoint examinations or equivalent, students will be admitted into Year 10 IGCSE/ O Levels tuition programmes. Students will study English and Mathematics along with three or more chosen subjects leading to IGCSE/ O Levels exams in four to six terms (2 years or less).

This tuition programme combines high quality language tuition with subject teaching and is designed for students leading to their exams in one year to two years. This programme focuses on students understanding and application in exam oriented lessons and activities. Students will develop their critical thinking skills and successful study tactics along with presentation skills.

Students typically need six IGCSE/ O levels exams at grades A to C to be sure of a place in a good university. At the end of the programme, students can begin studying for programmes such as A-Level, the International Baccalaureate (IB), Southern Australian Matriculation (SAM), Canadian Matriculation Programme (CPU) the and American Degree Programme (ADP).

Monitoring progress: At the end of every term, parents and students are encouraged to review with teachers the academic progress and educational goals.

Test & Assessment: Throughout the term time, students will be assessed via pop quizzes, group projects, written assignments, presentation, role play, mid-term test and term test. Parents & teachers review session will be held at the start of every term.

Holiday lessons & revision classes: There will be holiday revision classes provided during the school holidays. Parents will be updated via email on the timetable & pre-conformation is required.

There are three terms in an academic year. During the term, students must observe the timetable and comply with centres rules and regulations as a student at ATCEN Learning Centre. Students must be punctual for all lessons and treat all peers and teachers with respect.

15 to 20 hours of Academic teaching weekly, 1.5 3 hours of Skills Enhancement Programme that aims to build an individuals confidence, critical thinking skills and self-esteem through various personal & team work development activities. For example: Public Speaking, Speech & Drama, Physical Education, Money Management Workshop, Leadership Skills programmes.

Classes from Monday - Friday:

We organise End-Term party and festive celebrations such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali, and Christmas Celebrations & End-Term party for our teachers, students and parents.

Admission & Placement Test

All new students are required to bring along their previous school report card/ results or relevant academic report for assessment.

Students are required to sit for a Placement Test, prior to registration. Subjects to be tested are English and Mathematics. A fee of RM50 is payable for the Placement Test.
