CAMBRIA LIONS CLUB NEWSLETTER MAY 2018 WWW.PINEDORADO.COM PAGE 1 Cambria Lions President’s Message May, 2018 Here we are two months shy of starting a new fiscal year. It seems the beginning of 2018 was only a blink of some cosmic eye ago. But, look what’s happened: We sold the Palmer property. We’ve begun a process to determine how the club will apply the proceeds from the sale to our mission. We seem to have a pretty good idea generally how we want to use the money. And, we have a finance committee who will help us understand options for investing some of the money. I also need to mention, we lost an old friend. Norm’s passing behind us, I find this progress incredible and hope you will all give your neighbor a pat on the back at our next meeting. I believe club members should feel really, really good about the progress we have made in a short time. I also wanted to use this newsletter to give progress on Pinedorado. Tick, tick, tick; it’s only four months away. The Pinedorado committee has accomplished a lot in the background. We have a theme: PINEDORADO, 70 YEARS STRONG. We have members who have agreed to take care of the more than two dozen activities that need to be looked after to make the event a success. Thanks to each of you. We’ve agreed a grand prize, ordered 15,000 raffle tickets (why not be optimistic), and begun to collect prizes. There’s too much more to try to give a better view here, but I did want to spend a few words on the Follies. The decision was agreed to return to a traditional Follies (titled, Shakedown in Slabtown; the rest will be a surprise) with an emphasis on local talent and resources. Randy Schwalbe has kindly agreed to write the Follies script (done!) and direct the production. The actors have been recruited and rehearsals begun. The Follies will run five nights: August 29 th – September 2 nd , in the usual format at the Vets Hall. This will be a fabulous production that will set the standard for future follies. Tell your friends. Best wishes for a great spring, Mike

    Cambria Lions President’s Message

    May, 2018

Here we are two months shy of starting a new fiscal year. It seems the beginning of 2018 was only a blink of some cosmic eye ago.

    But, look what’s happened:

    •We sold the Palmer property.

•We’ve begun a process to determine how the club will apply the proceeds from the sale to our mission.

•We seem to have a pretty good idea generally how we want to use the money.

•And, we have a finance committee who will help us understand options for investing some of the money.

•I also need to mention, we lost an old friend.

The Follies will run five nights: August 29th – September 2nd, in the usual format at the Vets Hall.

This will be a fabulous production that will set the standard for future follies. Tell your friends.

Best wishes for a great spring,

    Mike
