CAMAS, OUR VILLAGE

 

  SEVILLA, THE CAPITAL CITY

Camas belong to the province of Sevilla. It is situated between the Guadalquivir river and the Aljarafe area. It is four kilometres far from Sevilla, the capital city, where you can visit importants monuments like the Cathedral, Giralda Tower, etc.

                  THE HOLY WEEK

The Holy Week is very special for us. There are different fraternities with Chrits and Virgins. This is the Dolores Virgin, the patron saint of Camas

 

THE FAIRThe flamenca dress is the typical dress using by women in the fair.

Every year, the fair is announced with posters like these.

      THE ROCIO PILGRIMAGE

In May, some people go to the Rocio, a small village, on foot or riding horses. Some of them have made a promise and they go to see the Rocio virgin.

  THE CARAMBOLO TREASURE

This treasure was found in a small hill near Camas in 1958. The treasure belong to tartessos civilization.

The wine mosto from the Aljarafe area is a young white wine , is making using different type of grapes: Palomino, Zalema, Airén, Pedro Ximénez y Garrido. The grape fermentation only last forty days

Our area produces different kinds of oranges, one of the most important is the sweet orange. We produce too bitter orange using for doing marmalade

OLIVE TREE

The production of olive is very important in our province. The type of olive produced in the Aljarafe area is not for made olive oil, it is to consume it
