PHILIPPIANS 2:4 NOT LOOKING FOR YOUR OWN INTEREST BUT TO THE INTEREST OF OTHERS.
So many times we tend to overlook the good that is happening in our lives because we allow ourselves to become overwhelmed with the bad. There are times when we wonder how much more can I take. If you ever feel that way you are not alone. Certainly over the last few months of my life things have been a little overwhelming. God has managed to keep my head above wa-ter (and for that, I do give Him the praise and glory). I have found that if I take some time, even if it is just a few minutes to pray and remember the good in my life God blesses me with a feel-ing of relief and the strength to carry on.
This is a true story, the names have been changed to protect the innocent (lol). There are two women in the story, busy Jane and a stranger she meets named Gloria.
Jane was at the hospital with her friend whom she had been taking for chemo treatments and doctor appointments on a weekly basis. Her friend worked at the hospital so every week they went her friends and co-workers brought gifts of various types. Each day as her friend’s treat-ment was close to being finished Jane would pack up the gifts and make two or three trips to the car. One day, she had her backpack on her back, two large bags in one hand and 3 smaller bags in the other and out to the elevator she went. The doors opened and Gloria entered be-hind Jane. She was small and frail. Gloria looked up at Jane and said “Miss, I’m sorry to bother you, a stranger, but could I hold onto your arm? I feel a little unsteady on my feet.” Jane said of course. Gloria continued to talk about her anxiety. When the doors opened Gloria told Jane that her son was waiting at the entrance for her in his car and asked Jane if she would accompany her to the car. Jane, loaded down with her bags and now giving the little lady support as well, said of course. Gloria looked up at Jane and said “You are my second angel today.” Jane, in all of her hurriedness and destination focused mind, stopped at the car and asked if she could pray for the woman and after receiving a yes, prayed. When she was finished Gloria started to pray and she thanked God for the support of Jane’s arm and for sending her two angels that helped her along her way. Jane teared up asked God to forgive her for being in such a hurry that she al-most overlooked Gloria’s request.
We encounter many people during the course of our day. How many of them do we actually take the time to see? How many of them do we just rush by because we are late or we have oth-er things to do? How many blessings do we not receive because we haven’t taken the time to be an angel to another of God’s children by giving a blessing?

God always has a path for us to follow and we have people, events, and obstacles in our way. God watches to see how we react to those people and he is especially watching on the days that we are the busiest and in a huge hurry. I pray that as we continue our Christian journeys we will take the time to be an angel for someone in their time of need.

CALVARY TRUSTEES’ JUNE REPORT
Potomac Edison had a monitor on our power lines that showed we drop voltage when the elevator is being used. They will adjust on their side of the power system but, there will still be a slight dim of lights when the elevator is in use. There will be no charge. The Fidelis Classroom/ Parlor carpet has been cleaned by Gary Frye and Ned Pitzer. The elevator door motor had to be replaced as the doors wouldn't open. There was only one distributor who handled replacement motors for old elevators. Total cost for motor and labor was $2,800.00. The leaky roof over the Bible Bootcamp Classroom was repaired at a cost of $1,900. The above repairs for the elevator motor and leaky roof were unexpected expenses for the trustees' budget. If you could help with these items, please make your check payable to Calvary United Methodist Church and in the memo section write roof or elevator. We thank you in advance for your consideration. A question asked at the trustee meeting was if there had been a reduction in the electric bill with the installation of the LED lights? Answer: $100 - $125 a month. A comparison was made with four billing months. The Health Department requested that we provide hot water in the handicap bathroom. Mike Newcome replaced an element fixing the problem. Upgrades were made to the computer systems in the offices of finance and treasurer. Some of the equipment was first generation systems. The new computers allow them to work faster and to keep up with ever-changing software updates. During the summer months of June, July and August there will be no trustee meetings. If needed, a special meeting will be called. The amount available for the Stained-Glass Window Fund is $69,694.00 as of May 12, 2019. The amount needed to complete the window restoration project is $116,392.10. The window fund is still active, and you can continue making donations to help finalize this project. Please mark the memo section of your check “windows”.
Blessings, Trustees

CALVARY STORY – JUNE 2019
Let me begin by saying thank you to our choirs for
another great year of musical offerings to our Lord!
The month of May closed with the Handbell choir
performing We Will Glorify by Twila Paris and This is
My Song. The Handbell choir will be on break
through the summer and will start up again this
September. Thanks again to Tommy, Nathalie, and
Jonathan for their faithfulness. The Chancel choir
will also be ending their season very shortly and we thank them for their hard work, talent,
and dedication.
For June 3rd we will sing a challenging anthem called Great I Am by Philips, Craig and
Dean. We look forward to praising our Omnipotent, Holy God! “The mountains shake be-
fore you, the demons run in fear, at the mention of the name ‘king of majesty.’ There is no
power in hell or any who can stand before the power and the presence of the great I Am.”
The second Sunday in June will be the last time we hear the choir sing until this September.
In celebration of Pentecost we will close with an arrangement of a popular worship song,
Holy Spirit You are Welcome Here.
The third Sunday in June begins our season of special music. I know that some Al-
brights’ and Easts’ will be going on vacation and we wish them safe travels. As of now that
means June 16th is open for musicians. As always I am welcome to your suggestions and
feedback. If you or anyone you know would like to share their talents for our worship ser-
vices please let me know and we will do our best to accommodate them.
In other news, my family and I will be moving into a new house in Gerrardstown, WV.
We consider it an answer to prayer and confirmation that God is with us in the move. I will
still be with you just as Samantha will continue to serve the good people of St. Lukes UMC.

School’s Out For The Summer
As the days grow longer and the temperatures get warmer, kids across America grow evermore excited for the long awaited Summer Vacation. Summer is a time for lazy days, riding bikes, playing in the pool and watching fireflies dance in the night. Summer’s long hot days can also remind us of God’s promises. We read in Genesis 8:22 “As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” God reminds us that although our daily routines and schedules are changing He stays the same. His love for us never ceases or changes like the seasons. God loves you, it’s that simple. There is nothing you could ever do to change that. 1 John 4:7-8 teaches us the God is LOVE! As you plan and prepare for summer vacation don’t forget to reflect God’s perfect love by loving each oth-er in all you do. So while making new friends or visit-ing with old ones, remember God loves you and God wants you to love them the same.
Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me, even when I have done things wrong. Please help me show your love to others through my deeds. Please God, let me love like you. Amen
Ruth Bartles would like to hear from her church family.
