As compared with plastic casing pipes,CALPEX® district heating pipes onlyrequire 60% of the previous line width.

Narrow bending radii

CALPEX® district heating pipe is fle-xible, so it can easily be adapted to vir-tually all line conditions. CALPEX® cancross over or under existing supplypipes.

Simple to lay

CALPEX® can be laid and installed in avery short time by two fitters, with noneed for special tools.

Normal commercialconnectors/compatibility

Our range of accessories offers a hugeselection, with guaranteed solutionsfor every situation. CALPEX® districtheating pipes can easily be connectedto existing district heating networks.

Composite system

CALPEX® pipes are produced in a conti-nuous length. The PUR foam and thePEX pipes form a composite which pre-vents any water from spreading alongthe medium pipe.

Specially developed forlow-temperature applications

Heating supplies, drinking water trans-port systems, waste water systems, ref-rigerating units, swimming pool tech-nology and agricultural applicationsare some of the many examples fromour comprehensive list of references.

CALPEX®versus plastic casing pipes

As compared with conventional metalpipe systems, CALPEX® offers higherresistance to chemicals; it is corrosion-free and tested for compatibility withfoods. CALPEX® has a PEXa inner pipewhich is ten times less rough thansteel, resulting in lower pressure los-ses. This means that you can selectsmaller dimensions for higher flowspeeds, so expenditure on materialsand trench costs are reduced.

No underground connections

CALPEX® district heating pipes can besupplied in rings of up to 760 m in onepiece, largely eliminating the need forconnection points underground.

Accessories cardboard-packs

When using a fork-lift to unload the rings, the forks should be protected in order to avoid cutting

into the pipe casing.

Before laying, pipes must be stored at min. 10°C.

Do not remove protective caps before laying.

Store dry cardboard with accessories.

The installation instruction is one of the most important tools!

LayingDo NOT roll the CALPEX® ring out over edges, and do NOT pull the unrolled pipe over long distances on the asphalt. This can cause damage to

the protective polyethylene casing. Damaged points on the casing can be repaired, using the shrink socket.

Aligning the pipe endsIf necessary (e.g. if the laying temperature is low, or the pipe diameter is large) curved pipe ends can be bent straight with the help of an aligning rail.

Place the CALPEX® ring at the start ofthe line, and cut the outermost fixingtape.

Important! CALPEX® rings are under tension! Under no circumstances must you cut all the fixing tapes together. Uncontrolled release of the ten-

we recommend sealing the hole over the entire length with a sealant (e.g. AQUAGARD).

Stripping, pipe-preparation

Mark the distance x, (y) +1 cm fromthe end of the pipe.

Cut the jacket with a pipe-cutter or asaw at the distance X,(Z) from theend of the pipe.

Open the jacket longitudinally.Knife max. 5 mm deep into foam.

Cut back insulation over the distancex, (y). Attention: Service-pipe withbarrier of EVOH! Be careful!

Grinde protective sheath.

Mount the wall seal. Stretch the clip(if existing)

Cut the PEX-Pipe square to its axis(max.1 cm).

Carefully put end cap CPX for belowground onto the pipe according tothe enclosed Raychem DHEC installa-tion instruction or attach end capCPX for above ground.

Heat the Beulco fitting to60–80 °C again.

Re-tighten the fitting.Caution: do not overtighten!

Push the sliding sleeveover the pipe; the innerridge must point to theend of the pipe (with theconical end of the slidingsleeve towards the end ofthe pipe).

Widen the pipe twice,with a 30° offset; the sli-ding sleeve must not belocated in the widenedzone.

Insert the fitting in thepipe, and the fitting will“sit” firmly in the pipeafter a short while(memory effect).

Apply the tool; do not tilt.

Move the selector buttonto the slide position.

With levering movements,push the slider sleeve asfar as the collar of the fit-ting.

Move the selector buttonto the reset position.

Press the levers togetheragain, then swivel themovable lever upwards by90° to move the tool intoits initial position.

Connect the pipes to theT-piece as described in thefitting instructions for theREHAU press-type joint.

If necessary, cut thereduction to size with ametal cutting saw.

Place the sealing tape inthe joints (by the ends onboth shells) and applygentle pressure.

If necessary, place thereduction ring around thepipe and wrap sealingtape around it (wind around twice). Place theT-piece with the pipesinto the open shell.
