    From Dales Desk

MORE THAN JUST WORDS On the back page of The Caller this week, you will find our Interim Mission Statement and the Three Priorities chosen by our Elders and Diaconate for the rest of 2015. These priorities have been the subject of my last four sermons. These sermons are on our website, www.fullertonfirstchristian.org, for reading or listening. The texts of the sermons are found under the tab marked Sermons. The link to the audio is found under the tab Live Broadcasts. Also on the back page of The Caller this week, you will find three slogans I have suggested to support each of our congregational priorities. I offer them in remembrance of the 19th Century slogans of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) that guided their priorities on the American frontier. But of course, the real challenge of having slogans is to make them more than just words. Even if they are memorable and clearly communicate our priorities, they are useless unless they are followed up with action. Lets do what we can to make these words come alive in what we do and in who we are. Who knows what God may do through us? After all, Jesus said, For God all things are possible (Mark 10:27). And it has been my experience that God loves to take the gifts we offer . . . transform them . . . and surprise us with the height, the depth and the breadth of what God does with them. See you on Sunday!

Time is Running out to get your tickets and invite your friends to Two Great Social Opportunities

Dale has been speaking to us about hands-on ministry and here is a great opportunity. Buy yourself and a unchurched friend a ticket to the City of Fullerton/Chamber of Commerce Day at the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball game on Saturday, July 18. We have a block of tickets in the Lower View level at discounted rate of $18 each. In addition to a great game against the Boston Red Sox, there are fireworks and a Eco-bag giveaway. There are still a few available. Contact Donna in the office or Lisa in the Narthex this Sunday to get yours. If the ball game is not on your schedule, maybe a trip to the Hollywood Bowl, Sunday, August 23, to see Smooth Summer Jazz with Dave Koz and friends, Rick Braun, Kenny Lattimore, Larry Graham and Graham Central Station, Macy Gray, Harvey Mason Chameleon would be an opportunity to share an event with an unchurched friend. Tickets are $28 each ($21 for ticket plus $7 bus ticket from Lakewood Mall. We still have a few spots available. Donna needs to know by next Sunday, July 12 as any unsold tickets need to be returned on July 14. Disciples Men/Casa Breakfast FCCF men of all ages are invited to join for this month's Disciples Men's Breakfast, to be held on Sat. June 11 from 8:00 - 9:30 A.M. in Chapman Lounge. Please RSVP to Randy Baxter ([email protected], or 714-396-8858) if you are able to attend, and if you have any preferences for food, which we'll enjoy along with good fellowship and discussion of a short but relevant Scripture message."

Are You Involved? In his sermon this past Sunday, our Interim Pastor, Dale Suggs, challenged us to expand our involvement in hands on ministry. This, if youve been present for the sermons the past three Sundays, or have checked them out online, is the third of three priorities he, with the support of our Elders and Deacons, is suggesting we undertake for the balance of 2015 as we move toward the time of calling a new pastor. In Sundays sermon he suggested that he wants us to develop a list of opportunities for hands-on ministries that is wider than the various hands on ministries weve been doing for years in many cases. As an initial step in that process, wed like to compile a list of the names of our members who are involved in hands on ministry about which we know very little or nothing. Are you involved in some way in serving the community which is a ministry which has no connection to our congregation, or which is not part of one of our on-going ministries? If so, please send us an e-mail to the church office and tell us what it is you are doing as your personal hands on ministry which may, or may not, be connected to our church. May we have your input by the time the Outreach Ministry meets on Wednesday, July 15? For example, we know about some things that individuals are doing. We know that Cathy Thompson is a regular volunteer at Western Medical Center in Tustin. We know that Craig Wallace is a regular volunteer with O.C. Habitat for Humanity. We know that Barbara Fenters chairs the Older Adult Ministry Committee for the PSW Region and that Mike Vaughan is a member of that group, also. We know that Jill Scott and Phil Forbes volunteer at the Distribution Center of Pathways of Hope located on Ford Street and Lin Garcia is involved in many of Pathways Fundraising events. Were sure that many more of you are involved as volunteers with a variety of organizations serving the needs of people, but we dont have a complete list of all of the ways that members of our congregation

are doing hands on ministry. With your help, well have a much more complete list as we begin the process of doing all we can to expand our congregations participation in hands on ministry in the wider community. Thanks, in advance, for your responses to this inquiry. The Outreach Ministry

WE THREE KINGS came bearing gifts and so have we! Beginning today

you will find a beautiful wreath adorning our Narthex for you to participate in our Christmas in July program for the Pathways of Hope Holiday program. Here is the procedure: Take an ornament off the tree. On the back of the ornament will be a ticket for a thank You* opportunity drawing. Bring your gift to the box in the Narthex. Please leave the price tag on it as we need to submit a total of the amount donated from FCCF. Write your name on the back of the opportunity drawing ticket and put it in the Christmas box on the counter by the wreath. The drawing will be held the first Sunday in August. *Thank you gifts are 1. Two tickets to the Christmas Concert (2015) of the Mountainside Master Chorale. 2.
