ABOUT WRF

The World Resources Forum (WRF) is the global sci-ence-based platform for sharing knowledge about the economic, social and environmental implications of global resource use. WRF promotes innovation for resource pro-ductivity by building bridges among researchers, policy-makers, businesses, SMEs, NGOs and civil society. The flagship activity is the annual WRF Conference.Recent WRF conferences attracted in Davos more than 600 participants from about 110 countries and in Arequipa (Peru) more than 1’000 participants from over 40 countries.

The WRF 2016 in Costa Rica will pick up the key urgings of the Chairman’s summary and conclusions drawn in Arequipa and Davos:

· To promote enabling conditions in LAC for a sustainable use of natural resources

· To build more inclusive strategies for sustainable lifestyles

· To promote green investment and financial options for resource efficient activities

· To improve regulation and tax system for decoupling · To strengthen resource efficiency and climate change

policies · To develop robust standards and indicators for

resource efficiency

CALL FOR PAPERS AND AUDIO-VISUAL PRODUCTIONS

Participants are called to present the latest findings and news on the topics of the congress by submitting short papers for oral presentations (approx. 15 minutes). In addition, participants may present short audio-visual pro-ductions.

The congress is open to various stakeholders and offers a broad program:

ABOUT GBC-CR

The Green Building Council of Costa Rica (GBC-CR), member of the World GBC, provides a collaborative platform that brings together stakeholders from across the whole value chain of the building and construction industry in order to unlock the potential for sustainability in the built environment. Furthermore, the GBC-CR promotes different evaluating and certification systems making them available to all interested parties, responding to a market demand and bringing added value through its alliances and agree-ments with national and international academic, research, certification and financial entities; governments and socie-ty at large. GBC-CR is the official IFC-World Bank Certifier for EDGE in Costa Rica.

The GBC-CR organizes the annual International Congres-ses on Habitat and Sustainable Cities alongside the Inter-national GREEN EXPO, reinforcing networks and bringing together people and organizations from all over the world to share experiences, learn and participate in an effective and timely technological transfer towards better building in the region.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Paper abstracts (max. 300 words) can be submitted via the WRF conference tool. Audio-visual submission (3-15 minutes videos, larger productions could be evaluated upon request) may be sub-mitted online directly to GBC-CR (info@gbccr.org).

The Scientific Committee determines the acceptance of the proceedings and the audio-visual production.

· Papers will be considered for: ◦ 15 min. presentations; ◦ 3 min. presentations (3 slides max) in a spotlight slot at the end of scientific sessions

· Audio-visual productions will become part of the congress cinema

Outstanding manuscripts will be considered for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Following authors’ agreement, the presentations will be made available on the WRF and GBC-CR websites after the congress.

Companies, academic and research organizations, asso-ciations and non-for profit organizations are invited to:

LANGUAGE

The language of the congress will be English and Spanish with simultaneous translation.

VENUE

The congress will be held at the Universidad Veritas (west side – 1 km- of the Casa Presidencial, San José 10105, Costa Rica).
