PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONSImportant Dates:Application Deadline: January 7th, 2018-Apply with images of actual work to be sent to Japan, not images that represent your work.-Include brief bio with application, to be included in catalogue, if accepted.Notification of acceptance: Jan 14, 2018Artwork delivered to Jeanne Henry by: Jan 19th at the general meeting at the MAC, or hand delivered by Jan 21st.January 21st. 3 pm. There is a meeting at Jeanne Henry’s home at 3 pm for those who wish to learn more about traveling to Japan.January 21st 6pm, there is a meeting at Jeanne Henry’s home about the exhibition, peace pole project, OPA installations, and other related projects.Head-shots taken for catalogue: March 9 General Meeting (Cost of head-shot photos will be paid by OPA if done at this meeting.) Artwork & Shipping Info:• Artwork must be less than 18” x 18” to fit on gallery pedestals. Height is not restricted.• OPA has pieces priced to fit into 18” x 18” x 18” square box, disassembled. If your piece

exceeds 18” in height, and you will need a bigger box, contact Natalie Warrens (info below) to discuss shipping options. Additional fee’s may apply, but we will do our best to work with sizes.

• Wall pieces may be entered into the show. Wall piece size limit is 39” x 19” Weight limit: 44lbs. We will do our best to pack large wall pieces in without additional cost.

• OPA hopes to receive grants to pay for shipping work to Hokkaido. It is artists responsibility to ship unsold work back home, or pay shipping to contacts in Japan. If you do not want to ship your work, donating your work to HPS is a possibility. Shipping fees could be up to $100 or more to ship artwork home, depending on size.

Application and Images:

1. Images must be of actual work to be sent to Japan2. You may submit up to three digital images (saved as JPEGS) of three individual ceramic

pieces. You may also include UP TO THREE ADDITIONAL close-up/detail images, for a total of six images.

3. Image file size must be less than 1.8 MBs.4. Fill out online application and then email images

Important Details About Packing and Delivering Artwork:

- Accepted pieces MUST BE DELIVERED (UPS no later than January 19 or in person no later than January 21) to Jeanne Henry 3290 SE Harrison, Portland, OR 97214. Details will be included in acceptance letters. *Jeanne lives in SE Portland not Milwaukie

- Work should be packaged for shipping. The box must be 18” square or less. OPA will double box your piece for shipping.

- For ease in unpacking the piece, please; VERY LITTLE or NO TAPE. Your work will be unpacked to be photographed, and then re-packed for shipping.

- Your artwork will be reviewed by the jury committee to ensure structural integrity and craftsmanship. If your piece is deemed unfit to be exhibited, you will lose your spot in the exhibit and an alternate piece from another artist will be selected in its place.

- Artwork will not be covered by OPA insurance once it is dropped off, until it is shipped to Hokkaido. Please print and sign waver stating that you understand and agree that OPA may handle your work for photography, delivery, and shipping.

OPA insurance waver: As a participant in the Hokkaido/OPA Exchange exhibition in Sapporo, Japan, organized by the Oregon Potters Association (OPA), I agree to the following:

1. While my artwork is in the care of the Hokkaido/OPA exchange committee, after delivery to Jeanne Henry’s, my artwork is not covered under OPA insurance. The committee has my permission to handle my artwork for verification, photography, delivery, packing, and shipping.

2. I have packed my artwork securely and included quality packing materials to the best of my ability, to ensure its safe transport.

3. I will label the outside of my box with my name, title of piece, and dimensions of piece.The HPS/OPA exhibit committee’s promise to you is that we will handle each parcel with care and ensure that artwork is stored in a secure location. Pieces will be insured during shipping. Insurance coverage, if any, while at the Museum is TBA

****Travel information for those who plan to travel****Traveling to Japan is not required to exhibit your work if accepted.

All OPA members are invited to travel and participate, whether or not you are exhibiting work there.

Come if at all interested in travel and events! Travelers are asked to bring the following:
