An ArtPrize 2012 Entry Competition

VSA is soliciting artwork entries created by adultartists with disabilities for the Legacy Trust AwardCollection of ArtPrize 2012.

ArtPrize is a radically open art competition, giv-ing away the world's largest art prize. ArtPrizeruns September 19 through October 7, 2012 indowntown Grand Rapids, Michigan. For moreinformation see the ArtPrize website atwww.artprize.org.

This award collection has been designed to assistadult artists with disabilities to participate in a pre-liminary art competition with three winning artistsmoving forward to compete in ArtPrize 2012 inGrand Rapids, Michigan, as the Legacy TrustAward Collection. (*New! 2 public awards andone judge’s choice award)

Artist registration for this Award must be re-

ceived by May 7, 2012 and artwork must be de-

livered to ACT, Grand Rapids, MI by 11:00 amon May 17, 2012 for the voting artists’ recep-

tion.

Artwork will be voted on during the Artists’ Re-ception on May 17 & 18, 2012. The top three art-ists will receive the Legacy Trust CollectionAward and will be individually entered intoArtPrize 2012, which will take place in GrandRapids, Michigan from September 19 - October 7,2012.

Artists Creating Together seeks artwork from adult

artists with disabilities for the Legacy Trust Award Collection to be

included in ArtPrize 2012 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.



Guidelines for Subming Artwork All artists must submit an Artist Registration to ACT by Monday May 7, 2012 and artwork must be completedand available for showing in Grand Rapids, Michigan during the Voting Artists’ Show & Reception on May17 & 18, 2012.

Requirements:

All participating artists must be at least 18 years of age by May 7, 2012, and a current resident of the State

of Michigan.

All artwork must be original. All works must be attributable to the applicant artists and have been complet-ed within three years prior to September 19, 2012.

All artwork is subject to the “Official Rules for Artists- Artprize.” These official rules can be found on theArtPrize website at www.artprize.org

The three top artists will retain ownership and all rights to their artwork, subject to the rules and re-strictions of Artprize 2012. The Artists agree to make themselves and their artwork available to ACT,Legacy Trust and other partnering agencies and sponsors prior to and during ArtPrize for promotions andmarketing efforts.

The top three artists who receive the award will be entered into ArtPrize 2012 as a Legacy Trust CollectionAward winner

Artists agree that if their artwork, which is part of the winning collection, wins any ArtPrize award, theywill donate 25% of any award to ACT to create a special Legacy Trust Endowment Fund to continue arts programs for people with disabilities in the greater Grand Rapids.

Winning artists will be notified by ACT no later than May 31, 2012, and will be entered into ArtPrize2012. There are no restrictions on other artists, who are not part of the Collection, from entering ArtPrizeon their own.

Artwork must be delivered by mail or in person to the ACT office in Grand Rapids, Michigan, by 11:00 am onThursday, May 17, 2012. All artists participating in this award contest are invited to attend, along with their families, the Voting Artists’ Show & Reception on May 17 & 18, 2012.

By submitting an entry to the Legacy Trust Award Collection, a program of Artists Creating Together,

you agree to be legally bound by these terms and conditions as well as the terms and conditions of the

“Official Rules for Artists– ArtPrize.” If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, do not submit

an entry to this award collection.

Application Process

All artist registration forms must be received by May 7, 2012 to be considered for the award and all completedartwork must be delivered by mail or in person to the ACT office by 11:00 am on May 17, 2012 for the VotingArtists’ Show & Reception..

Award Details

All artwork entered into the Legacy Trust Award Collection Competition will be included in a public, commu-nity vote and a judged jury vote during an Voting Artists’ Show & Reception on May 17 & 18, 2012. The top two public vote artists and a single judged vote artist will receive a cash award of $500. The award winners will be entered into ArtPrize 2012 individually, with all applicable ArtPrize 2012 entry

fees paid for by VSA.

VSA and Legacy Trust will work with Award Winners to create artist statements, press releases and other relevant marketing materials as the Legacy Trust Award recipients and as ArtPrize 2012 contestants. After ArtPrize 2012, artists will retain ownership of their individual artist statements and other marketing materi-als.

VSA and Legacy Trust will secure venue space for ArtPrize 2012 for the Award winning artists and will pay for appropriate insurance coverage for the artwork during Artprize 2012—from September 19 throughOctober 7, 2012.
