CALL 2021 DZD Grant 1/2 The members of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) are announcing the call for the DZD Grants 2021 - open to all DZD scientists. The goal of the DZD Grant is to foster collaborations among the centers, bringing different expertise and resources together to address an outstanding issue in diabetes research. In 2021, the DZD will fund the DZD Grants with a maximum of 50,000 EUR/ year for 1 or 2 years. Personnel, consumables as well as outsourcing services will be funded. DZD Grant 2021 Applicants PIs of all DZD Partners, Associated Partners, Project Partners (find information at next page) Appointment of a project leader (PI) required Funding Max. 50,000 € / year for 1 or 2 years Project Criteria o Projects involving at least two DZD sites are funded: The PI or at least one of the Co-PIs has to belong to one of the five DZD partner’s institutions. o The project must be based on a newly starting collaboration or on the initiation of a new topic in an existing collaboration. o Applicant is the PI. The applicant is responsible to fulfill all administrative tasks coupled to funding (reports, etc.). o A Co-PI has to be named for each participating institution. o Cost neutral elongation in principle not possible! – A maximum of 30% of the project budget of the first year could be shifted to the second year. After the second year no shift possible – remaining budget will be returned to DZD. Evaluation Criteria o High scientific quality of the project - fascinating “high-risk” projects with potential for a scientific breakthrough are welcome. o Added value by tightening the collaborations within the DZD network. o Potential impact of the proposed work on enhancing scientific understanding or promoting the translational transfer of scientific results. Application o All required documents have to be submitted as pdf file to the DZD- Geschäftsstelle. o Proposals have to be submitted in English using the provided application form. o CVs indicating the scientific qualification and five key publications of the PI and Co-PIs have to be attached. o All applicants are required to provide a detailed description of their project part in an AZA-form after positive evaluation of the project latest 3 weeks after positive decision. The applicant has to submit a final report, which includes a scientific and a financial part, latest 2 months after the end of the funding period.

The members of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) are announcing the call for the DZD Grants 2021 - open to all DZD scientists.
