Thank you rivers! Similar to the civilizations of Mesopotamia,

and Egypt, Harappan civilization depended on the rivers for fertile soil and water for agriculture.

Mysteries of Harappan Civilization

Around 1750BCE Harappan civilization declined and eventually disappeared. Declined means things got very bad or “worsened”

WHY??

Archaeologists think: #1 A nomadic group called the Aryans may have attacked

and taken over. #2 Another river called the Sarasvati River dried up. This

may have made life in Harappan civilization impossible.

The Aryans The Aryans were nomads who herded

cows in central India.

Around 1500 BCE the Aryans migrated to the Indus river valley and developed a civilization there.
