The BeachWhat better way to have your son and/or daughter spend Summer vacation. The morning will be filled with fun math, computer, language arts and art activities, (computer/electrical engineering for junior high students), and the afternoon can be spent at the 49er Camp (Separate application process).
Spend the Day at...
Purpose
The purpose of the Academic Enrichment Camp is to provide each child with a relaxed and exciting learning environment in which the basic skills of each of the subject areas will be taught.
Program of Activities
Work will be assigned according to grade (and ability level). Students will be assigned to groups according to THE GRADE THEY WILL BE ENTERING IN FALL 2016.
Instructors will evaluate the campers the first two days of camp. After an initial evaluation, campers will be taught using modified learning games, challenging activities, day-to-day learning experiences and worksheets. The children will review materials taught during the previous academic year and will also be introduced to new materials. Multiplication tables and division facts will be reviewed for grade appropriate campers. Common core standards will be introduced at all grade levels.
Age appropriate art projects will be taught to the campers as well.

Daily Activity Schedule
Each student will be assigned to a group based on the grade they will be entering in Fall 2016. Students in Kindergarten-Fifth grade will be assigned to one classroom and one instructor who will cover a variety of subjects pertinent to their grade level. Students in sixth through eighth grades will have a different instructor for each subject: math, language arts, art and engineering. There will be three subjects taught each day. The campers will be escorted from room to room by a teacher’s aide.
Sample Schedule
K - 5th GradeCampers will receive instruction in Art, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Computers throughout the 4 weeks of camp.
6th - 8th GradeCampers will receive daily instruction in Language Arts and Math.Also for two weeks, each camper will receive daily instruction in Art and Engineering.
Recess & Lunch
K - 4th grade will have recess from 10:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
5th - 8th grade will have recess from 10:45 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Lunch - 12 - 12:40 p.m. (only for campers attending 49er Camp)
Please be sure to provide your child with a snack for recess and a lunch if staying for the 49er camp.

Camp Policies & Procedures
1. What to bring• Backpack (with name written on the inside)• Water bottle (with pop top, filtration stations avaliable)• Snack and juice• Lunch, sunscreen, swimsuit & towel (if staying for 49er Camp in the
afternoon)

2. What to wear• Comfortable and light colored clothing is best• Close-toed shoes (tennis shoes required for 49er Camp)• Light sweatshirt (computer labs are air conditioned)
3. Camp Rules• Children are not to bring cell phones, ipods, toys, electronic games or trading cards to the camp. The camp staff and the university are not responsible for any lost or stolen articles while your child is attending camp.• If your child will not be attending camp (due to illness, etc.) please inform the camp office prior to 9:00 a.m. (562) 985–2216 or 985–2570.• If you are late in dropping your children off, it is your responsibility to walk them to the Club Sports and Recreation Office (PE-20A). We will have staff available to walk them to the appropriate classroom.• If you would like to visit your child at camp, you are free to do so. However, we would appreciate a note indicating the day and time you would like to visit. You are more than welcome to join your child for lunch. Do not take them out of the lunch area without notifying the camp director.• If you plan to pick your children up from camp earlier than the 12:00 noon ending time, you (or another adult you have authorized to pick up your child) must come to the Club Sports and Recreation Office (PE-20A) and sign them out for the day.• Children who exhibit repetitive disciplinary behavior will be subject to dismissal from the camp. A refund will not be given. Parents will be notified of problems and encouraged to assist the camp staff in resolving the problems.• If your child has special needs, (i.e. allergies, medication, behavior, instruction etc.) please alert the camp staff in letter form and turn it in to the camp office with the required waiver forms.• If your child has an IEP or Behavior Plan from their school mail it to the camp office
4. Drop-off and Pickup Procedures Beginning of Camp:
• All drop offs and pick ups are located in Lot 12 (Carpenter Center)• 7:15 - 7:45 Early Morning Drop Off (extra fee @ registration)• 8:00 - 8:25 General Drop Off, Lot 12• 8:25 Camp supervisor leaves for East Gym (Late parents must
walk their child(ren) to the camp office located in the KinesiologyBuilding, Rm 20A). Do not allow your children to walk to theKinesiology Building without being escorted

• Academic Camp: Parent Pick-up is at 12:10, Lot 12 (Carpenter Center)• After 12:20 Campers will be brought back to Camp Office. Parents will pick
up their child(ren) from the Camp Office.

5. SunscreenPlease pack sunscreen for your children. We will make every effort to assist in applying sunscreen prior to the start of the 49er Camp.
6. Transition to 49er CampThose campers who have registered for the same session of the 49er Camp will be escorted to the East Gym at 12:40 p.m.
Discounts
1. A $25 discount for additional child
2. A per family $25 discount will be given to children of CSULB faculty, staff, students, and Alumni, or for enrollment of more than one child from the same family.
Morning Supervision
We will be offering a morning supervision program to accommodate those parents whocannot meet the 8:30 a.m. starting time of the camp. Morning supervision will run from 7:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Cost of the supervision program will be an additional $15 per child/per session. If you are enrolling your child in the morning supervision program, you must have them dropped off at Lot 12 (Entrance via Atherton Street), after 7:15 a.m.
Enrollment Procedures
To guarantee a spot for your child, the Camp Application Form must be completed online with a MINIMUM $100 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT PER CHILD. If full payment is not paid at the time of registration, the balance will be due by June 10th, 2016 (Session 1) & July 8th, 2016 (Session 2). COMPLETE ONE APPLICATION FORM PER CHILD attending the Academic Enrichment Camp. Brochures are also available online at www.csulb.edu/summer-camps.
Children attending the 49er Camp and enrolled in the Academic Camp will bring their lunch and will be supervised prior to the start of the 49er Camp. Please note that enrollment in one camp does not guarantee enrollment in any other camps. Spaces are limited and only guaranteed with a completed application and a non-refundable $100 deposit or full payment.

Payment, Balance Due & Refunds
1. Full payment without discounts is $500 per child.
2. A minimum of $100 non-refundable deposit is required with each application, each session. Balance must be paid by June 10th, 2016 (Session 1) and July 8th, 2016 (Session 2).
3. All online applicants will pay online through our secure processor CASHNet for credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or American Express) or echeck payment method. An approximate 3% credit card convenience fee will apply per transaction and will be calculated based on the amount paid at the time of payment.
4. Refunds for payments made in full will be given as follows: prior to first teaching day-$400; prior to third teaching day-$300; prior to fifth teaching day-$250; after fifth teaching day-no refund.
5. Children may not attend camp until the balance is paid.
NOTE: After you submit your online registration, your application will be processed and a confirmation email will be sent to you with balance information and application instructions.
