CAO pays full employee share of PERS which equals 7% of salary. CAO can cashout 360 hrs of vacation and 500 hours of sick leave upon separation from county service or retirement. Cannot translate into service credit. No car allowance or reimbursement for mileage or travel is provided.

Mr. Smith-Hanes was appointed CAO in December 2009, and was not paid in the CAO pay range until 2010. This W-2 information reflects salary in the classification of Assistant CAO.

Auto allowance of $6,000 per year voluntarily discontinued in March, 2009 in recognition of the difficult economic times.Amount includes cash out of administrative leave and sick leave ($6,571) and cell phone stipend of $480.

Employer contribution to 457 Deferred Compensation plan - 4% of salary is included in wages for purposes of calculating highest year compensation. (included in box 5 W-2 wages). Vehicle allowance of $400 per month is included in wages for purposes of calculating highest year compensation. Of the total, $63,561.26 (fully taxable) represents vacation, floating holiday and sick leave payoff. Figure from W-2 Box 5 reflects 8 months of work. Previous annual salary was $208,776. Current annual salary for the CAO position is $193,000.
