General Before using the Calf-Reg App on your Mobile Device, there are a few things to note:

You must be registered on AgFood for Online Services to use the Calf-Reg

App. If you are not registered with AgFood, go to www.agfood.ie, click the

Register Button and follow the instructions.

You must be registered as a Herdkeeper on AgFood to register the birth of an

animal.

The animal must be registered within 27 days of its birth.

You can only register tags which have been issued to your own herd.

It is extremely important to note that once you have logged into the Calf-Reg App

you will remain logged in for 14 days. You should take precautions to ensure there is

no unauthorised access and close the app on your device or log out after every use.

The Calf-Reg app can be downloaded for free from the App Store for IOS Apple

Devices and from the Google Play Store for Android Devices. The app can be used

offline to draft and save registrations but needs an internet connection to submit

registrations to AIM.

Logging into the app for the first time To begin, open the app. You will use the same log in details that you do for your

Agfood account online.

Enter your AgFood Username. Click the check box to confirm your understanding

that once logged in you will remain logged in for 14 days. Click Continue.

Enter your password and click Continue.

Enter the requested digits from your Personal Access Code (PAC), then click

Continue.

The App will then ask you to set a 4-digit Pin, which you will need to enter whenever

you open the Calf-Reg app. Click Continue.

You are then asked to Select a Business ID. Clicking the drop-down box will give you

the Herdnumber with which you are associated. If you are Herdkeeper for more

than one herd, all available herds will be listed here. Choose the Herdnumber you

wish to Register a Calf to, click OK and then click Continue.

You are now logged into the app.

Navigating the Home Screen

Manage your login

At the bottom of your screen you will see ‘Manage your Login’.

Clicking this button offers 3 options:

Change your Pin

Logout or

Select a different herd

Change your Pin – this allows you to change the PIN you chose when logging in for

the first time. When you press this button you will receive a warning message; ‘Are

you sure you want to change your PIN? This will log you out.’ Clicking ‘No’ returns

you to the Manage your Login page.

Click ‘Yes’, this screen will notify you that you have logged out and will offer a ‘Click

to Login in’ button. You will log in using your Username and Password and choose a

new PIN.

Clicking the ‘Logout’ button displays the warning message ‘Are you sure you want to

log out?’

Clicking ‘No’ returns you to the Manage your Login screen. Click ‘Yes’ and you will be

logged out of the Calf-Reg App.

Additional Information

The Additional Information button is located at the top left-hand corner of the screen and offers you three options;

Terms and Conditions: The full Terms and Conditions, AgFood Information Pages, Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Privacy Statement and the Animal Identification and Movement Data Protection Notice are all linked on this page.

The AgFood Information Pages and the Privacy statement will open on a new page in your internet browser.

The Terms and Conditions and the Data Protection Notice can be viewed in the app.

Help: This section is available as a quick link button on the Home Screen also and contains links to Video Tutorials on using the app.

Contact: This section on the menu will give you contact details should you need help with any login issues.

Returning to Main Menu The Calf icon on the top right-hand of your screen appears in this position on all screens of the app.

Registering a Calf

The Home Screen of the Calf-reg App provides you with three buttons: Register a Calf, View registrations and Stored Data. Select the Register a Calf Button.

Selecting this button on any screen of the app will return you to the main menu. You will be shown a pop-up screen and must press Yes or No to continue.

Pressing No will return you to your present screen, pressing Yes will return you to the Main Menu and any unsaved changes will be lost.

There are 2 ways to select a Tag to register, either: Scan Tag or Search by Tag

Scan Tag The Scan Tag button uses your device’s camera to read the barcode on the tag. A pop-up screen will notify you that Scanning may not work in low light, if the tag is dirty, moving or if the barcode is illegible. Select Continue if you wish to proceed using the Scan Tag function.

The tag we are using is a sample tag for demonstration purposes only. Place the Tag Barcode inside the viewfinder rectangle to scan it.

Search by Tag Function: Type the last 5 digits of the calf tag number into the search box. As you type, the app will locate the tag you are using. Tap the tag number when it appears to continue to the next screen.

The following screens will display the Tag Number you are registering across the top of the screen. Select the sex of the calf

You now need to Select the date of birth of the animal. The calendar on this screen can be navigated by Month and Year on the top left-hand side of the calendar or can be scrolled through by month using the arrows on the top right-hand corner. Select the date of birth to continue to the next screen.

You now need to enter the Dam Number. Type the last 4 digits of the dam’s tag number into the search box. As you type, the application will locate the dam’s tag. Tap the tag number when it appears to continue to the next screen.

If the Dam’s tag number is not found, the Manually Enter Dam Tag button will appear. This button allows the entry of the full dam tag.

You must now Enter the Sire Breed. A comprehensive list of breeds is available to choose from. The Sire Breed list can be scrolled through or be searched by Breed Code. Select the Sire Breed and press Confirm to continue to the next screen.

You now need to choose the Births Status of the animal: Live Calf or Stillborn.

You will now see the Summary Page. Each detail previously entered can be changed by using the Edit button on the right-hand side of the screen. After editing the details, you will be returned to the Summary Page.

The Summary Page contains some optional registration details; Genetic Dam Details, Genetic Sire Details, Calving Survey and, if you have declared the calf stillborn, Dead Calf Details. Each of these buttons are removed when information is added to them and the details will appear on the Summary Page. When the Genetic Dam Details button is chosen you may enter the genetic dam’s tag number and breed or just the genetic dam’s breed. Once entered, tap Next to Continue.

When the Genetic Sire Details button is chosen, you may enter the Sire Tag number OR the AI Code.

Entering details in the Genetic Sire Details will enable a new optional button - Pedigree Name. The Pedigree name can be up to 35 characters long and can be a mix of letters and numbers.

When the Calving Survey button is chosen, select the status of calving.

If the birth status of the calf is Stillborn, choose the Dead Calf Details button and select the status.

There are three options at the end of the Summary Page – Cancel, Save and Submit.

If you select Cancel, all details entered will be erased and you will be returned to the Main Menu. Selecting Save will save the registration to your device for future editing.

Double check all registration details you have entered are correct before you submit the registration to AIM. Any errors present on the passport will need to be rectified in the RVO.

Select Submit. You will be asked to declare that the details you have provided are true and accurate and that you understand that any additional information provided will be transferred to ICBF. Click I agree and the registration will be sent to AIM.

You will be notified that the application to register birth details for the calf tag entered have been recorded with AIM and are given the option to register another calf or view your pending registrations.

Viewing Registrations

The View Registrations button is located on the Home Screen.

When selected There are three headings at the top of the screen – Not Sent, Awaiting Reg. and Recent Reg. The default screen is the Not Sent screen.

Not Sent Registrations This list contains registrations saved to your device that have not yet been submitted – these are coloured Black - and submitted registrations that have been rejected by AIM – these are coloured Orange.

Clicking on these rejected (Orange) registrations will give details of the registration error.

You can rectify these rejected (Orange) registrations by tapping the appropriate tag and editing the highlighted fields, this edited registration can then be resubmitted. In the above registration there are no fields highlighted as this registration could be rectified either by changing the Date of Birth or by changing the Dam Tag Number. In the below registration the AI Code field is highlighted as this is the only field causing the rejection of the registration and therefore the only field that needs to be changed.

When submitting saved registrations double check all details you have entered are correct before you submit the registration to AIM.

You can delete all registrations on the Not Sent page by tapping the X icon beside the tag.

The registrations on the Not Sent screen can be sorted by Calf Tag Number or by Date Saved by clicking these column headings.

Awaiting Registrations This list contains all records submitted successfully to AIM but are awaiting final processing before registration is complete and passport can be issued.

Registrations which are in Red require RVO intervention to resolve. You will be notified of the error with the registration on screen both at the time of submitting and when you click into the registration on the Awaiting Reg. screen.

An Error Letter will be sent out either by email or by post and you should follow the instructions in this letter to proceed with the registration.

Registrations which are in Black are successfully registered and are waiting for the passport to be printed. The registrations on the Awaiting Reg. screen can be sorted by Calf Tag Number or by Date Submitted by clicking these column headings.

Recent Registrations This screen lists all the calves that you have registered in the last 30 days. This screen can also be sorted by Calf Tag Number and Date Submitted.

Stored Data The Stored Data button holds the information relating to females in your herd and unused tags available to you. These are listed under the headings Female and Unused Tags.

The females list gives the Tag Number, Date of Birth and Breed. The Unused Tags list give the tag numbers available to you for registration. Both lists can be searched by tag number by entering digits in the search bar, the list will filter with each digit entered.

More Information

At the bottom of most screens on the app, there is a More Information button

available. Clicking this button will provide you with information on the current

screen and can be used as an aid to helping your navigate the app. To close each

screen click the Close at the top of the More Information screen.
