Greetings all,
I hope that you enjoyed the past few months of the semester.
The Thanksgiving Potluck last Thursday was an amazing success. SBA would like to thank Phung Truong for coming up with the great idea and following it through by getting club involvement and advertising. Additionally, thank you to all the clubs that participated and contributed food: VALS, PALS, RELS, La Raza, APALSA, SALSA, Amnesty International, and SALDF. All the food was tasty, and it was great to see so many students enjoying the lounge and each others company.
SBA welcomes new ideas, like the thanksgiving potluck, that will bring our community together. Don’t be shy about contacting us, and letting us know how we can help make your event or idea a success.
I hope that everyone enjoys there thanksgiving break. Remember to de-stress a little while hitting the books for the upcoming finals period.

InternationalHumanitarianLaw Workshop

Santa Clara University School of LawSanta Clara, California
This workshop combines lectures and hands-on exercises that guideU.S. law students through an intensive workshop on internationalhumanitarian law (IHL). The workshop will be led by legal professionalsfrom the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), lawyers forthe U.S. Armed Forces, and law professors who specialize in IHL.
Topics will include:• Introduction to International Humanitarian Law• When Does IHL Apply?• Human Rights and IHL• Protected Persons• Internment/Detention• Armed Conflicts of a Non-International Character• The IHL/Terrorism Interface• Implementation and Enforcement of IHL
Students will receive a Certificate of Completion from the ICRC.The program is available only to full- and part-time law students.There is NO FEE. Registration is limited and competitive. Studentsare encouraged to apply early, as the workshop does fill up.
Applications must be received by Monday, November 8, 2010.
