The bads news is - starting this week, Gosford City Council, will be closing the dirt pathway along the school fence on Joalah Road. The good news is – they will be constructing a new concrete path there. It will mean road closures while equipment and trucks move in and out of the area. Short term pain, long term gain. More bad news – starting on Friday, contractors will be removing trees and pruning others, so the dirt car park may be barricaded to avoid tree damage to cars. A simple idea to avoid the traffic chaos is to – PARK AT FROST AND WALK ACROSS. Simple solution to avoid road rage isn’t it? At last Monday night’s P & C meeting, I raised my concerns about parking and parking behaviour and followed up my last newsletter article with the members present who shared my fear of a completely avoidable tragedy. I know it’s hard out the front in the mornings and afternoons but we aren’t going to solve this with continuing bad behaviour. The P & C are going to seek your support to approach Gosford City Council to join with parents, local police and transport companies to discuss the problems and try to find a workable solution. Some actions that may be taken are holding a community meeting, sign petitions, write letters and generally let everyone know that we have a problem and how they can help. These opportunities are only possible with the continuing strong support of teaching staff who give up many lunchtimes to practise and coordinate these extra curricular performance activities. Good luck everyone who is performing – enjoy the spotlight! Reports School reports go out on the last day of school next week, Friday 27th June. Along with the usual report, there are two other reports that detail achievement in literacy and numeracy or maths. This year they have been integrated into the school report and do not come as a separate document. If your child will not be at school on this day and you would like the report mailed to you, please provide a stamped, self-addressed A4 sized envelope by Wednesday 25th June to the office. Reports will not be handed out earlier. 5 Lands Walk This term our students have been working on 1500 decorations that participants in the 5 Lands Walk will use to decorate the path from MacMasters Beach to Copacabana on Saturday. We collected the finished products in the staffroom this week and they look absolutely brilliant. YEAR 6 TO KINCUMBER HIGH SCHOOL

If your Year 6 child received a bus pass application from

Kincumber High School for 2015 please be sure to return it to

them as soon as possible. As Transport for NSW no longer

issues interim bus passes (for use until a bus pass has been

processed) it could mean that your child will have to pay a bus

fare next year until the application is received. If you cannot

find the application sent to you, we have spares in our school

office. You will need to return the completed application to

Kincumber High School. Please complete all details,

especially Question 5 regarding details of journey.

Incomplete applications will be returned and incur

further delay.

Class Item by K/1G

Is your child too sick to go to school?

A sniffle. A cough. A runny nose. A sore throat. Children come down with illnesses big and small. Some are

contagious, some are not. How do you know when it’s best

to keep your child home from school?

Sometimes it’s a matter of trusting your instincts. If your child has the sniffles but hasn’t slowed down at home,

chances are he’s well enough for the classroom. On the other hand, if your child has been coughing all night and

needs to be woken up in the morning (if he typically wakes up on his own), he may need to take it easy at home.

Many parents have a hard time deciding if their kids are

well enough to go to school, and for safety’s sake, if your child seems unwell you should always keep them home

from school and seek medical advice.

Of course, never send a child to school who has a fever, is

nauseated, vomiting, or has diarrhoea. Kids who lose their appetite, are clingy or lethargic, complain of pain, or who

just don't seem to be acting "themselves" should also take a sick day.

The School A to Z website has a great chart, supplied by

NSW Health, which will help answer your questions about common childhood illnesses and how long sick kids need to

miss school.

Please Note: The information on the chart is not intended to replace a visit to your doctor if anyone in your family is

unwell.

END OF TERM GOLD ASSEMBLY

AND PERFORMANCE DAY

On Friday, 27th June (Week 9 of this term) parents and our school community will have an opportunity to see some of

the wonderful performances our students have been taking part in, or preparing for, over Semester 1. Students will be

participating in dance (K-6 performances from the four CCDF dance groups as well as “Selfie” by 2H), music

(Junkyard Orchestra) and singing (Kincumber Public School Choir). The performance assembly will begin promptly at

1.30pm in the hall. Students from K-6 will attend as audience members, along with parents and family

members. Students who have achieved their Gold Award will also be receiving their certificates on this day.

From Mrs Wardlaw

Central Coast Dance Festival – A little party! What an amazing night last night! The dancers in the KPS senior

dance group looked incredible and danced with supreme confidence, lots of razzle-dazzle and amazing smiles! It was a

true joy to watch them on stage – all their hard work and practice paid off and I was so proud of their commitment to

excellence! There were a few spontaneous ‘high fives’ coming off stage and grins from ear-to-ear! Well done to all the dancers,

and to all the parents who have probably been listening to the song on repeat for the last 3 months! Mrs Peters was delighted

to be in the audience for the 2nd show of the evening and agreed

that the performance really was “something special”. In our opinion, the best was definitely saved for last!

The Central Coast Dance Festival was a perfect illustration of You Can Do It in action: well done to all dancers on their confidence,

resilience, persistence, organisation and getting-along skills. Congratulations, one and all!

From Mrs Wardlaw

Excerpt from an email from Mrs Currell “I just wanted to say a big congratulations to the girls who danced in CCDF last night (and of course to all the schools). My daughter, Ella has never danced in one before, she had the biggest smile on her face throughout her performance and had an amazing time! …We look forward to next year, when our whole household can learn a new song and new dance moves!A little party, never killed nobody, especially in our house”. From Elyse Currell “Wow, what an incredible evening of Dance… not only were we proud parents

tonight but also in awe of the obvious commitment, dedication and absolute fun the children had on stage in which you had a major hand in. (Our daughter) is so proud to be part of the dance group and tonight proved to us just how much confidence and pride she has in herself… Looking forward

to next year”.

Kind regards Proud mum and dad
