Clubs and Activities

Summer 2016

At Heath Mount we offer a wide range of clubs and activities taking place throughout the day.

These are run by a dedicated team of teachers, support staff and outside agencies.

Please make note of the following as you and your child make their choices for the term.

Sign up—Some of our clubs require you to contact the office to sign up your child, this is

indicated as ‘Sign up’ on the following clubs table. Please contact Liz Hammond

([email protected], 01929 830230) to sign up your child. Sign up is on a first come

first served basis. Please be aware that some clubs have a limited number of spaces.

Dates— All clubs start the week commencing Monday 12th of September 2016. External clubs

finish the week commencing Wednesday 14th December 2016 and internal clubs finish the

week commencing 5th December 2016, with a break for half term.

Absence—Please contact the school reception should your child be unable to attend on the

day or needs early collection and if you may be late for pick-up. This is a requirement to

ensure your child's safety. [email protected] 01920 830230.

normal end of the day. Children will make their way to the normal pick-up point unless

otherwise stated.

as this may differ between clubs. Payment for these clubs is by the term. Please be aware

that, unless the instructor is unavailable, payment is non-refundable. Please be aware of

your child's match commitments, as this can sometimes impact on club attendance.

Invitation—Some of our clubs are by invitation only, this may be scholars or team /choir

related. The staff member will contact parents in this instance.

Crèche, Griffin and Prep—These will continue to run alongside our afterschool activities.

Please sign up your child for one of these sessions should their club start later than their

Why choose fencing? Fencing can be

taken as a serious competitive sport, fitness regime or a recreational hobby. Fencing improves flexibility, reflexes, speed and agility that provide all-round mental and physical exercise essential for total health and wellness. Fencing is a fantastic way to introduce children to respect and sportsmanship in a competitive environment, through

individual and team exercises and competitions. Our activities aim to develop and improve an individual’s confidence, self-esteem, physical agility, social skills and fitness.

Why choose Paul Davis Fencing Academy?

“Paul Davis Fencing Academy is a fencing family” – we create environments that

foster friendship, respect, hard work and reward success. We create sessions that

are fun, engaging, energetic and provide a service that is the same for all. We use

fencing as a tool to develop a child’s wellbeing and contribution to their local

community. Fencing is a cross-curricula sport that utilises skills sets like Maths,

English, French, analytical ability, communication, fair play and leadership to

name but a few along with healthy living and regular exercise.

Heath Mount Scuba Club

Seal Team

This is a fun course that will give your child an introduction to Scuba diving using specially designed equip-

ment for easy use for young divers. This course is available for all children of 8+. The cost for this course is

£240 per term and there is an addition charge of £40 for the manual for new members.

Padi Open Water Referral

This course is made up of practical sessions in the pool, learning the skills to become an open water diver.

Children will also be required to cover some theory work. This is now done online https://apps.padi.com/

scuba-diving/elearning/ and allows us more time to work on skills in the water. That is open to children aged 10+. The cost of this course is £180 + the online registration fee. All participants must complete the Acknowledgement of Risk and medical statements that will be sent to you

once your choice of course has been made. Children will not be able to use the scuba equipment unless the

necessary forms have been completed.

For all children that are qualified we try to run fun sessions on a Sunday morning each month, to practise

and improve their skills.
