BEAR WARNING Bears maycome into the campground at anytime, day or night. Please lock all ofyour food in the bear resistant foodlocker at all times, except whenactually preparing food or eating. Donot keep food in your tent, sleepingarea or in exposed ice chests. Placeall waste in dumpsters as soon aspossible. Improper food storage
could result in a citation, with amaximum fine of $1,000 and/orejection from the park. CaliforniaCode of Regulations 4323(b)
DOGS Dogs must be leashed andcontrolled at all times. They mustbe inside a tent or vehicle at night.Dogs are permitted on pavedroads, fire roads, day use areasand in camp-grounds, butprohibited from the five (5)developed trails. Do not leave yourdog unattended at the campsite.
HOOKUPS There are no R.V.hookups at the campsites; do notattempt to connect hoses to parkfaucets. You may refill water tanksat the sanitation station.
WASTE WATER Collect wastewater from dishwashing, trailer, orR.V. drains. Dispose of it in anyrestroom toilet or at the sanitationstation near the Visitor Center.
RESPECT PARK PROPERTYPlease respect the tables, posts,and trees and do not cut, carve ordrive nails into them.

Welcome to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. In order to better serve you, we are providing
the following information. It should make your stay safer and more enjoyable.
VISITOR CENTER The VisitorCenter operates on a regularschedule. Summer: daily 10:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. Off-season: weekendsonly, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
FEES The camping fee pays forone motor vehicle and a maximumof eight (8) people at each site.Any additional vehicles will becharged a fee. If extra vehicles will
not fit at the campsite parking space,they must be parked in designatedextra vehicle parking areas.
CHECK-OUT TIME Check-outtime is promptly at noon. Please letus know when your campsite isvacant. If you wish to extend yourstay, you may re-register at theEntrance Station after 10:00 a.m.as long as space is available. If you
would like to stay in the park laterthan noon on your check-out day,you must vacate your campsite andmove to one of the day-use areas.
QUIET HOURS Quiet hours arefrom 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.Radios and other sound-producingdevices must not be audiblebeyond your immediate campsite,regardless of the time of day.Generators may only be used from
10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
MESSAGES Post all messages onthe message board at the parkentrance.
FIRES Fires must be confined toeither stoves provided by the park,or in metal containers off the ground.Fires are not allowed in makeshiftrock fire rings, on tables, or on theground. Purchase firewood at the
Entrance Station. All naturalmaterials in the park are protected bylaw, so please do not gather wood,pine needles, pine cones or twigs.
HIKING TRAILS Severalinteresting hiking trails have theirown brochures at the trailhead. Anoverall map/brochure is available atthe Entrance Station or VisitorCenter.
INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMSThroughout the summer months,we provide regularly scheduledinterpretive programs for yourinterest and enjoyment. Activitiesinclude campfire programs, guidedwalks and Junior Rangers.
BIKING Bicycles are not allowedon the trails, but are allowed onpaved roads and fire roads. Bike,skateboard and scooter riders under18 years of age must wear helmets.
MOTORIZED VEHICLESMotorized vehicles are notpermitted on trails or fireroads. Allvehicles and operators must belicensed for the street. Californiahelmet laws apply to motorcycles,motor-driven cycles and motorizedbicycles. Passengers in the back ofopen bed pickup trucks arerequired to wear seat belt restraintdevices.
SPEED LIMITS Speed limits are
posted and strictly enforced.Remember, children and adultsfrequently cross the roadways.Please drive carefully.
ANIMALS Bears, raccoons, andsquirrels are native to this area andcommonly visit the campgrounds.In order to better protect you, them,and your food, we require that youkeep food and coolers in the trunkof your car, or in the lockersprovided, except when you arepreparing food. Please DO NOTFEED the animals.
