This Saturday morning, October 22, the boys will bring the empty bags to your homes. You will have all week to fill them with your discarded clothing. Then on the following Saturday the boys will return to your homes for the filled bags.

This column for the next three months, October, November, and December, shall oe devoted to Christmas ideas. BATH SALTS: Divide 5 pounds of bath salts into small jars. Put in a few drops of food coloring and shake well. Add a few drops of perfume and let stand several weeks. · CANDLE HOLDERS: Paint the inner roll from adhesive tape holder. Let dry and bend up the front and back to form lips that will catch drippings. Tie red ribbon around the middle. CANDLE HOLDERS: Roll a piece of clay until it is round and smooth. Press a candle inthesoftclayand let dryslowly forabout 24 hours . Smooth with sand paper and paint. SNOWSTORM PAPERWEIGHTS: Take a round, glass jar, clean it thoroughly. Pour hot, melted paraffin into the jar cover. Set a small Christmas tree ornament or a religious figure in the paraffin. Let it harden, Fill the jar with clear water, add finely ground moth flakes. Screw the cap with the ornament on tight. Turn upside down and give a shake. . GLO-CANDLES: A tall pretty water glass, wick and paraffin. Tie a heavy brad or b:.ttton on one end of the wicl!, lay a pen­cil acros~ top of glass and tie other end of wick to it. Ti1is i3 to heep th~ wick straight. Melt paraffin and color with wax crayons as desired. Pour the paraffin into glass. Paraffin will shrink when cool so more paraffin may .be added.

CORK PIN: Cut small cork in half. Glue sequins on curved surface; attach bead to bottom of each cork with stra ight pin. Make ribbon bow . Place bow and cut sur­face of corks on cardboard and cut piece same shape. Glue to cardboard. Attach pin back to other side.

Isaac· Chutot, of Alpine Terrace, died October lOth in Washington, D. C. , while tie and his wife, Marvin, were vacation­ing. He suffered from double pneumonia and a heart condition. Interment will be at Fort Rosecrans. Isaac, who recently received his 25 year

'on Sattlfday evening, October 8th, Daisy McCoy and Cloma Pfeiffer gave a baby shower at the latter's home in the Rancho del Campo area in Campo for Mrs. Richard O'Day, the wive of one of the teachers. Those present were Della Seiken, Ruth Thomas, Marion Dieckma-n, Joan Jackson, Margaret Manguso, Ann and Betty Jeter, Nona Zuelner, Margaret Ison, ~elen and Jane Richards, Ava· Moreland, Marion, De­lora and Patsy Yanke, LeVern Thompson, Gene and Diane Cyman, Bee Boyd, and the hostesses. The usual fun games were played· and prizes were won by Helen Rlcha~ds, _ Betty Jeter and LaVe!n Thomp­son.

The new Tecate-Ensenada Highway was formally opened on Saturday, ~~tobe!-' 8, and a caravan of automobiles made the trip to Ensenada and back . They were e.n­tertained at . luncheon in Ensenada and visited a winery .

will hold a "Hodge Podge Bazaar and Food Sale" at the Fire House in Pine Valley, beginning at 9 A, M. on Saturday, October 22. Luncheon will also be served. Final arrangements were made at the club meeting which was held on Wednes­day, October 12, at the home of the pres­ident Lee Pingley in Pine Valley. The residents of Rancho del Campo have

had their share of misfortunes this past week. Mollie Wilson, mother of Bee Boyd wastaken to the El Cajon Valley Hospital on Monday, October 10, after being scratched and bitten on the hand by their pet cat. Mrs. Paul Andrews had major sur­gery at Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, October 12. Also on that date Megan Jackson was rushed to the hospital accom­panied by the Highway Patrol, after she and eaten some pheobarbital. It was nec­essary to pump her stomach. She is out of danger now, and at home, but her life would have been at stake if she had reached the hospital five or ten minutes later.

The Campo Elementary P. T. A. met Tuesday ev_ening, October . 18_. in the school auditorium.Films on Scouting were shown by Lloyd G. Peters, a Scouting official. He also gave a lecture.
