CAIMEN ® -90 Fast High speeds with exceptional seakeeping can now be realised with BMT’s advanced landing craft hullform. AMPHIBIOUS The Caimen ® -90 Fast was developed in response to the emerging requirement to distance amphibious task forces further away from the beach, as a counter to inshore threats. As this distance increases, so too does the need for faster surface connectors, to enable the all-important offload tempo. BMT’s Caimen ® -90 Fast Landing Craft offers huge advances in connector performance with the ability to move a Main Battle Tank across the littoral gap at 22 knots and operate unloaded at 40 knots. With the flexibility and cost advantages of a robust monohull, and offering both an alternative and complementary capability to large hovercraft, the Caimen ® -90 Fast signals the next generation of landing craft design, demonstrating real gains in the projection of power from the sea. Features and Benefits High Speed - Caimen ® -90 Fast is able to operate at high speeds with heavy payloads, allowing faster amphibious offload from a host platform when compared with slower, more conventional landing craft. Sea Keeping - Caimen ® -90 Fast benefits from excellent sea-keeping, with less than one knot speed reduction in Sea State 4, promoting consistent effectiveness across a range of operational areas. Robust Design - Confidence in the safe and efficient delivery of troops and vehicles is assured thanks to its inherent beached stability and tough, reinforced structure. Reliability - Three high speed diesel engines coupled to waterjets offer inherent redundancy and maximises craft availability. Good access to machinery reduces the maintenance burden to the crew. Utility - The 500NM range and multi-role flexibility of the Caimen ® -90 Fast allows a wide variety of independent operations for both combat and Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief tasks. An Alternative Approach - The Caimen ® -90 Fast offers new options for fast surface connector capability when compared to air cushion landing craft: half the storage footprint (for the same payload weight), diesel engines rather than gas turbines, and only a small portion of their purchase and through life costs.

The Caimen®-90 Fast was developed in response to the emerging requirement to distance amphibious task forces further away from the beach, as a counter to inshore threats. As this distance increases, so too does the need for faster surface connectors, to enable the all-important offload tempo.

BMT’s Caimen®-90 Fast Landing Craft offers huge advances in connector performance with the ability to move a Main Battle Tank across the littoral gap at 22 knots and operate unloaded at 40 knots. With the flexibility and cost advantages of a robust monohull, and offering both an alternative and complementary capability to large hovercraft, the Caimen®-90 Fast signals the next generation of landing craft design, demonstrating real gains in the projection of power from the sea.

Features and Benefits• High Speed - Caimen®-90 Fast is able to operate at high speeds with

heavy payloads, allowing faster amphibious offload from a host platform when compared with slower, more conventional landing craft.

    • Sea Keeping - Caimen®-90 Fast benefits from excellent sea-keeping, with less than one knot speed reduction in Sea State 4, promoting consistent effectiveness across a range of operational areas.

    • Robust Design - Confidence in the safe and efficient delivery of troops and vehicles is assured thanks to its inherent beached stability and tough, reinforced structure.

    • Reliability - Three high speed diesel engines coupled to waterjets offer inherent redundancy and maximises craft availability. Good access to machinery reduces the maintenance burden to the crew.

    • Utility - The 500NM range and multi-role flexibility of the Caimen®-90 Fast allows a wide variety of independent operations for both combat and Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief tasks.

    • An Alternative Approach - The Caimen®-90 Fast offers new options for fast surface connector capability when compared to air cushion landing craft: half the storage footprint (for the same payload weight), diesel engines rather than gas turbines, and only a small portion of their purchase and through life costs.

    “ The requirement to

deliver troops, vehicles and equipment from the sea, across the beach and onto the objective remains both critical and challenging. Legacy landing craft struggle to meet assault timelines as offshore launch distances increase to counter host platform vulnerability. ”

Caimen®-90 Fast is a highly capable fast landing craft designed by BMT Defence Services and BMT Nigel Gee, two companies with a pedigree in independent design, strong technical capability, a proven record of innovation and an extensive portfolio of designs, particularly for high-speed vessels. The design features a novel, tri-bow monohull constructed from aluminium, and a bow ramp positioned well above the waterline, but folded to provide excellent visibility from the wheelhouse. This hullform has been extensively tested and the capability of the design has been proven not only in terms of speed but also sea-keep-ing and manoeuvrability. Designs can be tailored to suit individual customer requirements.
