CAHCF - General Membership Meeting
You were there, weren't you?
At our General Membership Meeting we were pleased to introduce you to five (5) new
Business Affiliate Members: Bridging Documentation; M&T Bank; Medicaid4You;
Quill Corporation; and ReadyNurse. Service descriptions and contact information for
these (and for all of our Business Affiliate Members) is available from the Business
Affiliate Member page of our website at www.cahcf.org/businessmember.htm.
MORE (just joined) to be introduced at our next General Membership Meeting in
December!
Business Affiliate Members support this Association. Please make time to speak with
them when they call and read their informational product announcements in our monthly
Member mailings.
In addition to our Business Affiliate Members, we are also 157 Facility Members strong
representing over 67% of all nursing facilities in the State of Connecticut!
We were most pleased to have Molly Rees Gavin, President of Connecticut
Community Care Inc and Florence Johnson, RN, MSN, MHA of Qualidigm address
our group. Both were outstanding!
Paul Liistro, CAHCF President gave us updates on Medicaid application delays and
AHCA matters.
Heather Berchem, Esq of Murtha Cullina LLP; Vincent Ruocco, CPA of O'Connor
Davies LLP and Maureen McCarthy of Celtic Consulting gave us needed and timely
information and insight on legal, financial and Medicare matters.
Richard Brown, CAHCF Director of Member Services reminded everyone of our
upcoming Educational Conference & Trade Show, Wednesday, November 12th.
Everyone's help is needed to encourage not-yet-participating vendors of goods and
services to contact Rick and signup ASAP. We also need your assistance in sending
Attendees from your facility to the event. Rick loves a crowd!
It was a very, very full two hours of critical information, and if you were there, you got it
all. If you weren't..., well... For presentations that were accompanied by MS
PowerPoint slides, Rick will have those posted to the Members ONLY page of our
website at www.cahcf.org/memonly/memonly.htm under the General Membership
Meeting heading by Monday morning at the latest for your review. It's not the same as
being there, but it should be helpful.
This meeting was generously sponsored by our friends at Optum CarePlus CT. Thank
you!

CAHCF - Best Practices
Best Practices, The Series! If you're not signed up for these yet, YOU DEFINITELY
SHOULD BE! This is the information you NEED to have to do the best job possible and
stay out of trouble with regulators and others. Heather informs us that HIPAA Security
is our newest and scariest threat. Are you ready?
Dates, Times, Locations, Program Announcements and Registration Information are
now posted to the Event/Seminar Info page of our website at
www.cahcf.org/eventseminarinfo.htm.
09/23 Best Practices: Survey and Certification I
10/14 Best Practices: Survey and Certification II
11/06 Best Practices: Risk Management Hot Topics
11/19 Best Practices: Admissions and Business Office Issues
12/16 Best Practices: HIPAA Security
You need to have someone at each one of these, so doesn't it make sense to sign up
for the Series Package (Members $ 350.00; not-yet-Members $ 400.00) and save
money (save $ 50.00 over the combined individual offerings)? Of course it does!
Individual seminar offerings are Member $ 75.00/person first attendee; Member $
50.00/person second and subsequent attendee from the SAME FACILITY; $
90.00/person not-yet-a-Member.
All seminars will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in
Cromwell, CT and are three (3) contact hours.
Yes, Virginia..., when you sign up for the Series Package, you can have different
people attend different presentations. Substitutions ARE allowed.
Up to 15 CEUs will be awarded to Nursing Home Administrators for their attendance.

Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are
