Formed in 1995 by a group of parents who wanted to provide significant financial support to Caddo Magnet High School.
Society has provided over $591,000.00 for the funding of a number of high-impact projects for the classrooms.
Sponsors Mary Jane Malone Lecture Series, which brings a nationally recognized author to the school for the benefit of the students and the Shreveport community.

Student Handbook
Student Publicity
Caddo Magnet promotes and recognizes student accomplishments as often as possible. This includes the marquee sign in front of the school, school newspaper, yearbook, school website, announcements, PTSA web page, PTSA newsletter, & PTSA Facebook page. We also send information to local media – newspaper, radio, & television.
There will be a form coming home for your signature in which you will give/deny the school permission to publish your child’s work and/or photographs. It is very important that this form is signed and returned.
Master schedule set in May based on registration information; staff hired based on student course selections
Students will receive schedules the first day of school
Any schedule errors are corrected very quickly by counselors and APIs
Students must remain in classes all semester to earn credit

School day starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m.
Seven-period day
Each class period is 53 minutes.
Activity period will occur on Wednesdays: time for students to attend clubs, make up work, get tutoring, etc.

Cell phones and other electronic devices should not be out or used between the hours of 8:25 am - 3:45 pm. unless part of a classroom activity
Device will be confiscated for 3 school days.
Repeated violations include in-school suspension, loss of extra-curricular activities or out of school suspension
School security
AttendanceExcused absences (doctor’s note, pre-approved
religious activity, school trip, death in family)
Unexcused absences (no note, parent note, out of school suspension)
1st Semester - no more than 4 unexcused absences (86 days in semester)
2nd Semester -no more than 8 unexcused absences (91 days in semester)
Attendance is recorded by period. A check-in or check-out resulting in the student missing class is recorded as an absence for that period.
Attendance Policies
Please bring a photo ID when checking out a student. It may be requested.
If you know ahead of time that your child will be checking out, please contact the front office that morning. Students may drop check-out notes off in the front office in the morning.
Please do not check your child out after 3:30.
If you want someone other than a parent to be able to check out your student, that information needs to be on file in the front office.

A small processing fee will be charged

Transportation
Students must purchase a parking permit for $10 to park on campus.
Forms will be handed out August 11-12, and students may purchase permits beginning August 13th.
Proof of insurance and valid driver’s license required.
Permits are required by August 24th to park on campus.
Permit sales will continue until the student parking lot is full.

We will call you in case of an emergency concerning your child and will contact emergency services if needed.
Emergency Contacts & Procedures
Report Cards 1st and 3rd nine weeks are formal progress
reports. 2nd and 4th nine weeks are semester grades
for credit. Semester exams count as 25% of the semester
grade
