Term 3 Week 5 22 n d August 2019
Caddies Creek Public School Chronicle
Dear Parents,
Well, I was right – a great time was had by all at the Athletics Carnival last Thursday. There were some outstanding results and I believe some records broken! My thanks again to Mr Moyes for his wonderful organisation and our staff for their support. Mind you, if I don’t see another sausage again for a while I won’t be upset! Just an example of the large scale of our school – there were twenty, yes twenty, heats of just the Under 10 Boys’ 100m. So the kids who made it to finals and did well in finals certainly ran well. As I mentioned last week, the next level up is the Zone Carnival (run by Mr Moyes) which is on Thursday, 5th September. It’s less than three weeks away! Our annual Caddies in Concert is on Tuesday night at 7pm on the 10th September at Glenwood High School. We always have to fit carefully around the high school as it is HSC time for some subjects at this time of year, but we have been advised that it’s full steam ahead. Tickets will be available from this Monday (26th August). The link is later in the Chronicle. The children are very excited to perform for you and I’m sure you are just as excited to see them! This week is Book Week, and over the coming weeks there are a number of exciting things happening at Caddies in honour of this event. We have guest illustrators visiting the school, staff members sharing their favourite books with classes and a Book Character mufti day on Monday, 2nd September. I already have my costume ready to go! My thanks to Mrs Scheffers who is coordinating all the activities. Reading is our Super Power! You may have read in the paper about some updates the Department of Education has made to the enrolment of students in public schools. An information sheet will be distributed to families in coming weeks. Nothing to panic about and no one is getting kicked out! Caddies does not take enrolments out of our designated feeder area anyway, unless under exceptional circumstances, so none of these modifications will affect the vast majority of parents. Next Wednesday 28th August is the P&C Fathers’ Day Stall. The P&C commenced selling $6 vouchers under the COLA today and will continue to do so up to the Wednesday. The “voucher system” just makes it so much easier on the day because it avoids all the lost money issues and upset children on the day. Thanks to the P&C for organising this activity for our community. David Beggs –Principal

P & C News Father’s Day Stall: With Fathers’ day just around the corner the P&C will once again be staging a Fathers’ Day Stall.
It will be held on Wednesday 28th August. There will be a variety of items available, including new and exciting gifts,
for the children to purchase, all priced at $6 each. Vouchers went on sale today and will be available for purchase under
the COLA between 8:30am-9am every morning until Wednesday 28th August (day of the stall). The vouchers will then
be exchanged for gifts that children will select during their class shopping time. We also keep a record of children who
have purchased vouchers to ensure they do not miss out if they misplace it or forget to bring it on the day. Children may
also purchase multiple vouchers if they wish to select gifts for dad, uncle, grandfather etc. We will accept cash or
credit/debit cards. (Please note as standard with these facilities a merchant fee will be incurred).
Thanks to those people who have already returned their order forms and money for the P&C’s new PictureProducts
fundraiser.
PLEASE NOTE as per the schedule detailed in previous Chronicles - Order forms and payment are due no later
than TOMORROW Friday 23rd August 2019.
The P&C has sourced a brand new fundraiser for 2019 and if you’ve ever been stuck for ideas on what to buy that
special someone that has everything, then this fundraiser is something for you. Turn your child’s treasured memories
into durable, high-quality melamine Pictureplates that will last a lifetime! Or if this is your child’s last year of primary
school, why not get them to capture their friends’ names/memories on a keepsake item so that they can treasure this
milestone! Both decorative and useful, Pictureplates are simply beautiful. Children love eating off their very own
Pictureplates, and as the years go by and they grow up and have their own families, their Pictureplates will bring back
memories of those happy childhood years.
