Some of the best features of the app are the ability to sell things locally, by quickly listing items for sale by snapping a photo, entering a price and an optional description, all with the press of a button. Users can search and browse for items in their locality, either through a search and browse screen or by looking at a map view where they can see other people’s ‘flea markets’ as pins on a map. A buyer can then contact the seller through in-app messaging. The app focuses on local sales, what makes it fun is the ability to search for bargains in your area, we all love a bargain! Caboosale was created with parents in mind whose homes have become filled with toys and stuff that their children quickly grow out of. Giving them the opportunity to list and sell things quickly... But have the fun of a car-boot sale or flea markets experience at the same time. It also lends itself to ‘micro-businesses’, using it as a platform to sell things locally, like homemade jams and produce... Caboosale could be a platform from which people can be entrepreneurial and create small, local businesses. As its location based it can grow organically, allowing users to connect and develop a virtual local market. Traditional auction style apps are fine for selling higher value goods, but why not exploit the location and camera capabilities of a mobile phone and have something that is targeted locally, that makes it really quick to list an item, that gets people talking to each other, that encourages community, an app that encourages ‘micro-businesses’? CEMAS were able to bring their considerable expertise in UI design and branding, helping to produce a slick user interface. CEMAS were also able to successfully develop the iOS version of my app to a very high standard and functionality. In turn, it gave my company, the app, a better profile for me to take to market.
