Modoc National Forest – Whether you’re visiting to fish the Blue Lake or launch your boat, you can spend another whole day swimming, waterskiing and even windsurfing in this National Park.

McCloud Falls – This diverse campground is one of California’s best swimming holes on the McCloud River. Lower Falls welcomes you to take a dip, while Middle Falls offers an opportunity to take a jump or dive off its rocky ledge.

Shasta Lake – What doesn’t Shasta Lake have? Next to kayaking, wakeboarding, windsurfing, boating, sailing, and fishing, you can find music venues, wine tasting, golfing, sky diving, rock climbing, biking, theme parks, and much more.

WATER SPORTS

Subway Cave & Lava Tubes – An exciting transition from the park are these caves formed by molten lava moving beneath the walkable surface. Bring jackets, flashlights, and prepare for a unique hike!

Modoc National Forest – With endless campgrounds, hot springs, fishing, and wilderness exploration opportunities, there’s something for any age family member. See eagles, peregrine falcons, golden eagles, and other wildlife nearby.

Camping Local Lakes – There is no shortness of places to camp. Take your pick of stunning lakes like Crystal, Medicine, Blue, Shasta, Browns, and Lake Britton.

Area Attractions – Among a variety of water sports like kayaking, boating, sailing, and fishing, is an abundance of activities - parks, gardens, train rides, bird watching, roller skating, live theater, and so much more.

SNOW ACTIVITIES

Crystal and Baum Lakes – A paradise for those who’d like to snowshoe through the twilight, or perhaps during the daytime, to experience vista points that include both Shasta & Burney Mountains. Birdwatchers will also find beauty here, in the many diverse waterfowl waiting to be spotted.

Mt. Shasta – This is the place to be in winter: snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing, winter waterfall hikes, cross country skiing, breathtaking views of the rolling snow covered foothills, and of course, the beauty of a snow capped Mt. Shasta.

Homewood Mountain Resort – This resort is a little bit of a drive, but well worth it. With some of the best views of the Lake Tahoe region, this resort is easy to access and offers much more than skiing, such as year-round hiking and biking trails.

McArthur-Burney Falls State Park – Home of ‘Burney Falls’, a cascading waterfall that’s a sight to behold - a short, easy hike gets you there!

Fly Fishing – Visit the Pit River for serene views, trout, and crisp, clear water from the Cascades. Come to be part of the hatch!

Hiking & Fishing – Check out Brandy Creek Falls, James K. Carr Trailhead, and Boulder Creek Trail to name a few. These areas include endless lush trails with waterfalls, mountain views in the distance, recreation areas, lakes, and more.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park – Enjoy this national park that’s worth the drive. See ferns, ancient redwoods, and any level of hiking – plus spots for bikes, horses, vistas, bird watching, and tide pools, too!

Game – For hunting, counties around the CA299 highway offer a variety of spots to hunt bears, deer, duck, geese, quail, band-tailed pigeons, grouse, and chukar.

Mayers Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital which provides inpatient and outpatient care to patients of rural communities around Fall River Mills and Burney, CA.

MMHD operates 2 campuses. The main campus, in Fall River Mills, is a full service Critical Access Hospital featuring a 24/7 Emergency Department and Ambulance Service operated through Sierra Medical Service Alliance (SEMSA).

The Burney Annex is a skilled Nursing Facility with 38 long-term care beds including 21 Alzheimer Unit beds. This annex also offers other outpatient services such as lab & wound care.
