Five tips for new golfers

What are the five most important golftips you would give to someone new togolf? – JackTaking up the game of golf can be anexciting – but daunting – task. Here arefive tips that I feel best help brandnew golfers.

1. Experiment before you invest – Golf is not a cheap sport toplay. Use equipment from your family and friends to see if thegame is something you truly want to take interest in.

2. Learn from the putting green back – Most people come up andjust hit balls on the driving range – but spend some time on theputting green. It’s the most important part of your golf game.

3. Go in with an open mind – There will be times when you aregoing to get frustrated, but do not let these times keep you fromenjoying the game and having fun.

4. Watch the best doing what they do best – You can learn a lotabout the game just by watching the PGA Tour on TV.

5. Learn from the people who know – See your local PGA/LPGAProfessional for lesson options. Columbia Association Golf offersplay for golfers at all levels. Visit www.ColumbiaGolf.net tolearn more.

I hope these few tips will give you a good start to your golfingcareer. Good luck and I hope to se you walking (or riding) ourfairways soon! Read an extend version of this article online atwww.CAmonthly.org.
