Increase awareness of the science of blood and the need for blood donations.

Activity 1: Blood is a mixture
Students will demonstrate that blood is a mixture
Students will measure blood to determine the hematocrit ANYTIME AFTER THE FIRST ACTIVITY – SCHEDULE A VISIT TO C² PIPELINE STEM LAB FOR A CENTRIFUGATION LAB! Activity 2: Form and function of blood cells
Students will demonstrate red blood cell shape, white blood cell and antibody interaction
Students will observe the shape and abundance of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets
Activity 3: Arteries, capillaries and veins
Students will identify the different vessels Activity 4: Oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange
Students will demonstrate oxygen diffusion in the alveoli

stored at 4 °C for 48-72 hours prior to separation. Blood can separate into three parts or two parts; and in
