CROXTON CHURCH NEWS

On April 21st the Church was full for a lovely service to celebrate Her Majesty's 90th Birthday and the collection of £272.31 was sent to the Royal Norfolk

Veterans Association.

The Church will be open for the Open Gardens Day on Sunday 26th June.

It is planned to do some tree work in the Churchyard during the Autumn as several bushes and trees have become very large. It is very much hoped that

the usual (or new) willing people will be available to help clear up !

BT Telephone Kiosk

The BT telephone box in The Street has been slowly deteriorating and has not been used for at least the last twelve months. The Council was offered the opportunity to ‘adopt’ the box some time ago but declined and we were under the impression BT

would remove it otherwise. Since then BT have not removed the box. Subsequently Mrs Melinda Raker has again offered to take care of upkeep and maintenance of the box if the Parish

Council would consider adopting it as the boxes have become village ‘icons’. The PC agreed and now own the box and BT have since removed the telephone

equipment.

Options for its future use will be circulated after the box is refurbished.

Stay Active - Croxton

The S.A.C. Group is doing very well presently and keeping “very Active” !!

Apparently they had a good day out at Gorleston with a Carvery Lunch, plus a

Summer Show.

The only hiccup was that some of the Group did not take their cushions ??

For more information contact Joy on 01842-820833.

Norfolk’s Own Cookbook

Thank you to everyone who supported Norfolk’s Own Cookbook especially Pat Miles who was such a marvellous ambassador and dealt so efficiently with the postage of all the on line sales. The 5000 copies of the book sold out in less

than 6 months raising an amazing £104,000.00 for Marie Curie. This money will fund a Marie Curie dementia nurse specialist in Norfolk. The CEO of Marie Cu-rie said “Norfolk has an older population than the national average and with that

a higher prevalence of dementia diagnosis. For this reason we felt it important to create this post who will provide support to

people and families in Norfolk when they need it most” M. Raker

On Saturday 25th there is an open air concert in Lake House, Castle Lane at 6.30pm. Gate opens at 5.30pm so bring along a picnic and entry is FREE but donations very welcome.

On Sunday 26th, 8 gardens in Croxton join the 30 in Thetford so please give them your support by visiting as many as possible. Admission at £5.00 includes the programme available in advance from

VILLAGE HALL SUMMER FUNCTION Saturday 2nd July Back by popular request is our duo ‘Memory Lane’ to provide the dancing music after a hearty 2 course

meal. We will have the marquee up so we can accommodate more of you even if the weather is inclement.

Our usual excellent bar will be available when the doors open at 6.30pm.

Tickets are now on sale at £10 each or £5 for children 12 or under, and can be obtained from com-mittee members, Bob King, Jane Purday, Gerald Goucher and of course the Village Shop.

Croxton Village Defibrillator

Following the open meeting on Saturday 16th April, and visits by councillors to two other areas where

Defibrillator have been installed, the Parish Council has decided to provide a unit for Croxton village.

We are therefore applying for funding to provide a unit, plus to arrange separate, additional First Aid

training for interested residents.

We have already had an offer of financial support from one of our Croxton community groups and will

keep you informed of progress with this project.

Croxton, Brettenham & Kilverstone Joint Neighbourhood Plan

Part of the process of developing our Joint Neighbourhood Plan is a requirement to establish whether Breckland Council require a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in addition to Sustainability

Appraisal (SA) to be undertaken of the JNP. This requires Breckland Council to contact the statutory Environmental bodies - Historic England,

Environment Agency, and Natural England – in order to gain their views on whether a formal Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) will be required.

To date the Environment Agency has responded confirming they do not consider SEA will be required and Heritage England have raised some queries which are being addressed. Once BDC has received the

responses from Natural England they will be able to provide the Parish Councils with a formal Screening Opinion as to whether SEA is required. BDC has yet to confirm whether this SEA is/is not required.

Progress Report 1—May 2016 can be viewed on the website under Neighbourhood Plan/Analyses
