BROOKLYN HOME DAY
January 23rd was d very exciting oneilt tht C-H. That \vas when the an-nual Brooklyn Home Day was held thisyear, The Brooklyn Home boys andgirls, numbenng close to One Hundredin "-II, begJ.Jl arriving and promptly pro-ceeded to mnke themselves at home atthe C-H. They knew they were wel-come guests.
Iktween I :00 and 1:30 P,M. thechildren were tJ.ken on a tour of theCommunity House. There \\'cre many"OH's" and "AH's" expressed whenthey saw our beautiful pool. Theywere ,impatient to dive in right then ;melthere but they were told that there wereroo InallY other things \",hich had to bedOlle first.
At 1:30 P,M. promptly, the Basket-ball game bet\wcn the CommunityHome and the Brooklyn Home Boys DC-gan. It ,,-vas a bittedy fought battle allthe way between the two evenly IniltchedteaJUS, The players on both teams gotsome good natured ribbing from thespectators but no olle seemed to mind.A t the end of the first half of the gamethe score W:lS so close th~t it was ,] tossup as to which team would eventuallytriumph. The C-H team picked upsteam as the; game entered the tinal st;l.geaud when it ended the score was awhopping 45 to 35 win for our side.
AFtcr the game was over the; boys andgids from the; Brooklyn Home racedeach other to 6ce who coulel get into thepool first, the last one; in being a "rottenegg." We don"t know \vho the "rottenegg" WitS since it seemed that they ;lllhit the; water at the same time, all OneHundn:d of them. The pool was bulg'ing ilt the seams with all those childrenin it but one look at those happy facesmade us reali;;e that none of them cared.
As a treat for the C-H"ers, theSenior Girls oj' the Brooklyn Home puton a well planned show. These talentedgirls SJIlg and d;lllced so \vell that theywon the admiration of the large, inter-e.<ted audience whicb indICated its ap.proval by uninllibite;d round after roundof applause. What we especially likedwas their rendition of the songs "DearHe'lrts and Gentle People" and ·'Sugar'lime."
