In honor of this, The Waunakee Family of Lions Club's Operation Diabetes Blue is once again working on lighting the Village in Blue, the international color theme of Diabetes Awareness. You are encouraged to show your support by displaying your blue light bulb from last year in your outdoor light or the front window. Residents who have not yet received a diabetes awareness blue light may pick one up at the Chamber Depot beginning November 3rd while supplies last. Members of the Lions Family will be at the Chamber to distribute blue bulbs from 11am2pm on November 3rd. Light Our Village in Blue: A Diabetes Awareness Project

November is National Diabetes Monthand November 14th is World Diabetes Day.

In honor of this, The Waunakee Family of Lions Club'sOperation Diabetes Blue is once again working on lighting theVillage in Blue, the international color theme of DiabetesAwareness. You are encouraged to show your support bydisplaying your blue light bulb from last year in your outdoorlight or the front window. Residents who have not yetreceived a diabetes awareness blue light may pick one up atthe Chamber Depot beginning November 3rd while supplieslast. Members of the Lions Family will be at the Chamber todistribute blue bulbs from 11am­2pm on November 3rd.

The alternate side parking ordinance is in effect from 12midnight through 6:00 a.m. from November 1 to April 1. If possible, please keep parked vehicles off the streets whenit snows.

In Wisconsin, it's estimated that by the end of 2015 therewill be 110,000 people diagnosed with the most commonform of dementia, Alzheimer's. Nearly 60% of people withdementia live in their own communities. Creating anenvironment that ensures individuals with dementia areunderstood, respected and given the support they need is thegoal of a dementia friendly community. The DementiaFriendly Waunakee Committee strives to increase awarenessof the challenges those with dementia and their care giversface and what the community can do to provide support.
