NAWS H&I Web Meeting - Notes from: 06-26-2014 -

Ice Breaker - How do we make H&I service attractive? Breakout Room #1 Bill S: By showing up with a smile and always using encouraging words about what we do -DONE Bill F: By letting everyone in our Area know that they are important in carrying the message and that all the H&I meetings are

NOT jail meetings but are also at recovery houses. -DONE Chuck Kellen: By sharing the rewards of service, making it fun, and having an enthusiastic attitude -DONE Jak K: Do not have to have done time to be a part of H&I -DONE Jim Buerer: Something I mention a lot is personally inviting folks to participate, anything new can be intimidating. So

sometimes it takes reaching out to get someone involved and having new people seems to infuse more into attracting more people. -DONE

Neal Smith: Excellent opportunity for 12th step work. Our gratitude speaks when we can carry the message to those that may not get it as easily as we do --DONE

Bill F: Continuing to mention that H&I is all inclusive and that 'we' are here whenever needed. -DONE Jak K: Make it fun & attractive. Car pool to the meeting, share experience strength and hope, both on the way there and on

the way back to/from the meeting.-DONE Bill S: I also fellowship with my share person before meetings sometimes over coffee and stress the importance of their

commitment. We show up on time and leave on time, a lot of times I'll say "See y'all next week" that way they can expect us. For my once a month commitment up on the hill at the Firecamp, I treat my share person to a meal to fellowship also. I like this - Don't scold people for using "non-NA" language -DONE

Neal Smith: I try to encourage small groups to share a commitment -DONE

Ice Breaker - How do we make H&I service attractive? Breakout Room #2 Irv E: I think we can make H& I service attractive when we have organized committee meetings that show how much we can

work together to carry the NA message to so many more members. Committee reports can help others to get involved mentioning service position requirements and open positions. These openings can be made into announcements at the group level by Group Service Representatives or other interested NA members. Getting involved with service work helps members stay clean H&I service is a great way to start. Planting the seed of recovery for newcomers to H&I meetings can be one of the greatest things in their life. It may be the only chance we have to help save the lives of the still suffering addict from the grips of the disease of addiction. Our literature tells us one addict helping another is without parallel so we the NA members that have got the message need to remember to do whatever we can to give back the message that was so freely given to us. The H&I Information Pamphlet states, " The H&I message is the same as the NA message: That an addict, any addict, can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new way to live. The gift we share is hope and freedom from active addiction through the program of Narcotics Anonymous. Any NA member who wants to carry this message is encouraged to get involved with H&I service." Share some Lance? -DONE
